Taste of Peru — clean, consistent peruvian in Devon Avenue. Order the Chicha Morada. The decor hasn't changed, and it doesn't need to. Owner-operated, BYOB. "Took my best friend out here and the meal was absolutely divine" — Alexander Brockmann

“Apparently Guy Fieri been here too and he loves it”
I wanted to love it like I used to. Have not been here in several years.
QUE ERROR. Only got the stuffed potato (papa rellena) I wanted to like this place, I really did.
Likely one of the worst ceviches I've ever had. The side of yuca were dry, burned to a crisp in some parts, no sauce.

“I thoroughly excited to find an AUTHENTIC Peruvian restaurant and enjoy my experience from the time...”
I thoroughly excited to find an AUTHENTIC Peruvian restaurant and enjoy my experience from the time I entered and left the establishment. When I entered, I can feel the nostalgic and history of Peru through the beautiful artwork and pictures. The place was crowded which is a good sign and atmosphere is extremely personable, and family orientated. I was greeted by the waitress offered excellent service throughout my experience and follow up by the owner who personally introduced himself. He was extremely personable and asked me if I knew what I wanted. I ordered a avocado salad and a chicken and cilantro rice for my entrees, and a Peru soda. He proceeded to educate me on the dishes, and relay the message verbatim to the waitress who was on her way to talk my order. I truly love how engage the owner is with the guest and working with the staff to assist in any possible way. This makes me feel appreciated and care for as if I was apart of the family dynamics. The avocado salad taste so good, fresh, and crisp. The chicken and cilantro rice came out stemming hot. The flavors were everything I needed and did not disappoint. I had enough food to bring left over home! Before I left, the waitress and owner made sure to personal greet me as I exited the establishment. I would come back here. The food was absolutely amazing, reasonable prices, clean establishment, exceptional customer service with a family oriented vibe. Love it!

“I loved this place.”
I loved this place! The ceviche mixto was super fresh and full of flavor, and the chicha morada was so good — not too sweet, just perfect. The arroz chaufa de camarones was amazing, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. I also tried the parihuela soup, and it was rich, tasty, and full of seafood. Great portions, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere. Totally recommend it! 🇵🇪

“Took my best friend out here and the meal was absolutely divine.”
Took my best friend out here and the meal was absolutely divine. The flan? Fantastic. The ribeye? So juicy and tender. The rice? The grain equivalent of falling off the bone. The owner was such a sweet soul. I could tell he loves his community.

“super low-key and unassuming, yet one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants I've been to in the United States!”
super low-key and unassuming, yet one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants I've been to in the United States!! the Ceviche was some of the best I've ever had, and the Arroz con Pollo was mind-blowingly delicious. sorry my pics are great, but it's only because the food was so good that I forgot to take a photo and had to take these pics while we had already eaten a lot.

“The food was really good.”
The food was really good. The portions were large. Service was fast. It is BYOB so next I would bring a bottle of wine or beer. We ordered a couple of appetizers for 3 people which was enough.

“This place is amazing.”
This place is amazing. The food is utterly delicious. Was unaware it was on the Michelin bib awards for multiple years. We tried the Peruvian Chicken which is only available after 2:30 and sells out quick. Flavorful and succulent. The fried rice is some of the best I've had. And the seafood they give amazing potion sizes. For what you get and what you pay. The value is great. Will now be a regular here

“Found this Peruvian restaurant randomly online.”
Found this Peruvian restaurant randomly online. Didn't know it is very famous and had been on many magazine recommendations before. Food is very good and big portion. I got the Lomo saltado, classic Peruvian. Lots of beef and potatoes. Good flavor of stir fry. To help u digest you can drink some chicha morada. Don't see this corn drink in many places. Apparently Guy Fieri been here too and he loves it. Don't know if his opinion matters to u or not. For parking, since this is in a small shopping center, there is plenty of parking. And bus stop is right next to it.

“The best Peruvian restaurant in Chicago.”
The best Peruvian restaurant in Chicago. And second place isn't even close. The lomo saltado is the best I have ever tasted. The quality of the meat is fabulous. The arroz con pollo is to die for. There are other Peruvian restaurants downtown that are highly rated. Unfortunately, they are triple the price and you get half of the portions compared to Taste of Peru 🇵🇪. And, finally, I must mention our server and also the general manager, Madelein. She was absolutely fabulous. Her intimate knowledge of the dishes was amazing. She is perfectly bilingual and I believe she won the Miss Venezuela beauty contest in 2020. We were so lucky to be in her world 🌎 if only for a few hours. It was truly an experience of a lifetime. This restaurant is the best kept secret in Chicago! And I am 100% Peruvian - so I know what I'm talking about.

“We received our food quickly, and the service was very friendly.”
We received our food quickly, and the service was very friendly. I had some of the purple chicha morada to drink, and the cinnamon flavor was super unique. For the food, the breaded corvina with spaghetti in green pesto sauce was excellent. I just wish there had been a little more potato with it.

“Went to this restaurant after work a week ago and had the Pollo en Salsa de Mani.”
Went to this restaurant after work a week ago and had the Pollo en Salsa de Mani. It was my first experience with Peruvian and it was so good! I haven't really seen peanut sauces used outside of Vietnames cuisine so it was a pleasant surprise for it to be so delicious. The peanut flavor complimented the chicken so well, I finished it so quickly haha. My friend and I also got cold rice pudding after and that was also really good too! The wait staff was very friendly and there's a bunch of Peruvian art around the restaurant. It's a nice small restaurant and a great choice if you're looking for a hearty meal!

“One of the best meals I can recall.”
One of the best meals I can recall. At least this year for sure. Was blown away by the unique flavors (this was my first time trying Peruvian!). Everything from textures to seasoning to meat preparation was perfect. Not a great photo because I ate it all but wow!!!
