Hyderabad House Family Dining
Hyderabad House Family Dining draws regulars for intensely flavorful Hyderabadi biryani—especially the mutton and chicken versions—plus rich haleem, chicken 65, chicken boti, and fresh garlic naan. Diners praise the generous portions, adjustable spice, polished yet relaxed atmosphere, and attentive recommendations, making it a comfortable Devon Avenue stop for groups. Experiences can be inconsistent, however, with reports of rude late-night service, food-quality issues, and cleanliness concerns.

“The best authentic Hyderabad mutton biryani in Devon. Great ambiance and very clean, hygienic resturant. Food is really good and can feel the freshness of biryani. Loved it, will always visit this restaurant for biryani.”

“The haleem was exceptionally good—rich, flavorful, and absolutely worth trying. Just a small heads-up: the portions are huge. It’s best to finish what you have before placing a second order, because one serving is more than enough to fill your tummy to the brim! We also tried the dhaba chicken, which was delicious, and the spice levels were adjustable to our preference. The service was impressive as well. The staff were polite, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our visit. The only downside was the timing—while the restaurant was listed as opening at 10 AM, they actually opened at 1 PM. So it’s a good idea to double-check their hours before heading over. They might have updated it now.”

“3.8 rating is a TOTAL LIE! This place is a steal! They have HUGEEE quantities, and amazzing taste.So. lose to authentic hyderabad flavour compared to anywhere else I tasted. Good , quiet sitting space, and servers were super polite. Se ordered chicken 65 (10 starss), mutton biryani ( unlimited stars), and a lamb haleem ( superrr good) with butter nan. I am definitely coming back. Such a gem find.”

“Found it good for dine in on Devon. Hyderabadi Biryani and chicken 65 were on point. Good service too.”

“I visited Family restaurant-Mutton Biryani was good. Rice were soft and not greasy. Quantity was good. Better than many Hyderabadi restaurants on Devon. Ambience is bit Hyderabadi style. And bit relaxing , not unlike other restaurants (fish market) Good for families. Not so great but decent place to dine in a relaxed atmosphere”

“I am writing this follow-up specifically to address your response to my initial 1-star review, which you incorrectly claimed was intended for "the wrong restaurant." Let me be absolutely clear: I gave the review to your establishment, "Hyderabad House Family Dining," and I stand by every word. I am familiar with the other "Hyderabad House" in Chicago and often eat their food. However, on August 12, 2024, I wanted to try something new, and I chose to come to your restaurant, "Hyderabad House Family Dining." My visit occurred at approximately 9:00 PM, and my order included 1 Haleem, 2 Lamb Biryani, and 1 Soda. I have a clear photograph of my itemized receipt from your restaurant, which verifies this date, time, and purchase. You claimed this review was "not applicable." My experience was appalling: I found hairs in my first biryani, and when I asked for a replacement, I was utterly shocked to find hairs in the second biryani as well. This severe lack of hygiene completely ruined my meal. I actually didn't see your reply to my review until now, but I would have replied much earlier to your defensive accusation. There is no obligation for a customer to write a review immediately after eating, and frankly, I was too devastated by the experience. Instead of questioning my honesty and attempting to deflect blame onto other restaurants, you should be taking accountability for the lack of quality control and hygiene in your kitchen. You earned this 1-star rating. I should have gone to the other restaurant.”

“We tried the biryani they said it was hyderabadi but it clearly says it’s a pan biryani not even close to hyderabadi dum biryani . Worst biryani ever”
“I recently visited Hyderabadi House and had an amazing experience. The food was extremely tasty and felt very authentic. The haleem was exceptionally good—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We were also recommended to try the chicken boti, and that suggestion turned out to be perfect—it was absolutely excellent and full of flavor. The overall experience was very satisfying, and the service and food quality really stood out. I would definitely rate this place 5 out of 5. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great Hyderabadi-style food in Chicago.”
“I just love the taste of the biryani which is 100% pure hyderabadi biryani!!!”
“The food was delicious, and the service was personalized, caring, and so good!”
“Stopped by for dinner and dropped about $35 on a Chicken Biryani and a side of Haleem. The biryani was packed with tender chicken and perfectly spiced basmati—not too heavy, just right. The haleem was rich and creamy, and the garlic naan was fresh. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was elegant but relaxed—felt like a little getaway to Devon Avenue’s best. Definitely coming back!”
