“The egg-based crepe was almost spongy (but strong enough that you can pick it up and it holds together) and the crunch comes from the fried dough crisps inside”
Lukewarm. It had the expected ingredients.
I’ve had Jian Bing many times, they probably use old oil to fry the jian bing, it tastes old.

So so good! Got a shrimp one, it was very fresh. The sauce was the real magic, it had so much flavor and made every bite different. Place is clean, service was great, and portion was substantial 👍🏼

Growing up in northern China, countless JianBingGuoZi gave me energy on many mornings to schools. What this shop makes triggers the perfect trip down the memory lanes, from the first crunchy bite, to the chopped scallion left in the container. Would have loved it even more as a handheld for extra authenticity points, but this was the only thing I could ever nitpick.

“The only downside I have is that it’s awkward to eat in a busy train station.”
The only downside I have is that it’s awkward to eat in a busy train station. While it IS in a mall, the bottom floor where this is at is home to red and blue line transfers. It’s nice when you want to stop by and eat, but it’s not so nice when people are running a foot away from your face catching the train. Other than that, friendliest people I have met. Literally insisted I did not tip them with the widest smiles. Juicy flavor on the inside with crisp textures on the out. Will come here again on my busy commute back home.

Amazing Jianbing, we came across this place when changing metro lines and the food was great, authentic taste, big portions considering the price. They also sell tea which is pretty delicious too.

“Ordered the pork sung + honey sausage and an original; it is SOOO SOO good!”
Ordered the pork sung + honey sausage and an original; it is SOOO SOO good!! Well-seasoned, suuuper flavorful, absolutely delicious. It’s got a super crunchy bite and is so savory and fresh. I did choose spicy, but i would say it could be even spicier. I loved it and will definitely be back!!

I come here at least once a week and get their yummy jianbing. It's unlike anything else you can get in Chicago! I have tried many boba throughout the city. This is hands down the BEST tapioca/pearl boba. The chewy consistency is perfect. I still try new places just to see if anything beats it, but this boba still holds the #1 spot.

“This was my first time trying jianbing.”
This was my first time trying jianbing! I ordered the tofu bing. There was no line, so it only took about 5 minutes for them to prepare my crepe, but everything is cooked to order. If you stand in the right spot you can watch them cook. The jianbing had a very unique texture! The egg-based crepe was almost spongy (but strong enough that you can pick it up and it holds together) and the crunch comes from the fried dough crisps inside. They didn't skimp on the tofu. I ordered mine with the spicy bean paste - it wasn't the same kind of heat as hot sauce or hot peppers, but a deep aromatic spice. Unless you have a serious aversion to anything at all spicy, I don't think their "spicy" will give you issues. You order at a kiosk and give it your phone number so that you get a text when your order is ready. The staff was also nice enough to call out to me when they had mine, and the text arrived at basically the same time that they called. Even though my interaction with them was brief, they seemed polite. This vendor is located in the French Market, which has plenty of indoor and outdoor, and a nice atmosphere. I heard it could be busy at lunch, but I was there around 1-1:30 and it was pretty calm by my standards.

“I haven’t been to the French market in years and based on a recommendation, I tried China’s most...”
I haven’t been to the French market in years and based on a recommendation, I tried China’s most popular street food, Joan bing. It’s a crêpe with egg, scallions, sesame seeds, spicy bean paste, lettuce and a crispy wonton “cracker”. It’s so good! Delicious layers of flavor and texture. I love the softness of the crepe with the crunch of the wonton and lettuce. Looking forward to coming back and trying different options!
