Tacabron — neighborhood mexican in Forest Park. The design gives it a sharp first impression. Straight from the source, no adjustments, and BYOB. "The fish tacos were grilled tilapia with a hint of lime" — Matt Zurek

“I stumbled across Tacabron on my way home from downtown Forest Park.”
I stumbled across Tacabron on my way home from downtown Forest Park. It looked interesting but I just had dinner so it made my want to go list. Fast forward a couple of months and my brother and I decided to give it a try. I had fish tacos and my brother got a steak burrito. The fish tacos were grilled tilapia with a hint of lime. They were so good I ordered a second order to take home and share with the husband. I have been back a few times since trying new things off the menu. Tonight our server greeted our table with chips and salsa; the salsa was so tasty we ordered some to go home. We had a steak quesadilla to share. The steak was tender and substantial. It was actual steak cooked medium and I think it was Oaxaca cheese, I highly recommend. I also had the enchilada dinner, this really brought me back to my trips to Mexico. I chose the green salsa as my stomach can not take spicy. You have a choice of steak, chicken, cheese, or Veggie ( grilled squash). I chose one of each steak, chicken, and Veggie. My dining friends both had burritoes chicken and the other asked if they could do the tilapia in a burritoes and they dud. Both were excellent. The interior is casual and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is BYOB. I still have much of their menu to explore.

“Great Lengua tacos!”
Great Lengua tacos!! Red and green salsa was fire and I could tell that everything was authentic and made in house. I had a coffee, cinnamon and chocolate drink that was a great also.

“Tacabron is hit or miss with the steak tacos.”
Tacabron is hit or miss with the steak tacos. There are some days the steak tacos are seasoned well & some days you are just eating bland tacos. The rice and beans are always consistent. The restaurant is always neat and tidy. A 3 steak taco dinner will cost you around 14 dollars & that's a lunch special from 10am-3pm.

“Expensive, but tasty.”
Expensive, but tasty! The drinks were pricey, but absolutely delicious. The food was reasonably priced. We went in for margaritas, but got hungry so ordered carry out. Free chips & salsa were delicious! I really liked their salsa. Tacos were great! Food was fresh. We'll be back to enjoy the outdoor patio seating.

“One of my absolute favorite taco places in the area.”
One of my absolute favorite taco places in the area! Pre-Covid, they had a phenomenal salsa bar, that I hope comes back, but in the meantime, the tacos are still amazing and affordable. Highly recommend! Update, a year later: unfortunately the salsa bar isn't coming back, but the tacos are still fantastic and they now have a taco Tuesday deal!

Loved it. Had a mixed taco platter. The asada was as good as you would want it, pastor was flavorful and crispy, birria was awesome. Birria was made with goat, wasn't sure how much I'd like it, they let me have a taste and I absolutely loved it. Service was very polite and timely.

“We ordered online, and then in store I saw flauta special and ordered that as well.”
We ordered online, and then in store I saw flauta special and ordered that as well! Taco platter and birria platter were all super delicious. This place also has great vegetarian tacos. Be sure to get a side of elote! I ordered horchata and asked if a pink juice was tamarind, it was watermelon 🍉, and they gave me a small taste! Green salsa is tasty and mild and red salsa is flavorful and hot!

“I've driven past this place a hundred times and finally decided to stop in for lunch today.”
I've driven past this place a hundred times and finally decided to stop in for lunch today. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good. Not 5-star, authentic, good, but close. The atmosphere is great. Many taquerias focus 100% on the food, and don't seem to care much about the atmosphere. Much different here. Very nice, bright, modern, clean. The salsa bar is great. Between my wife and kids, we tried a wide selection of tacos and tortas and they were all good. Prices are a little higher than you'd see at most other taco joints, but honestly, the change in scenery from the run of the mill taquerias makes it worth it. We'll definitely be back soon!

“I've been here 3 times in the past week and I'm very impressed by the quality of the food here.”
I've been here 3 times in the past week and I'm very impressed by the quality of the food here! First off, I think it's important to tell you that the meat itself is generally on the "plain" side, but I think that's by design, because they have a salsa bar with tons of great options. My favorite is the smoky negra salsa. Also worth noting is that the meat itself is super tender, none of those awful tendon-bits so far. The horchata is also delicious, and seems pretty fresh - definitely no signs of powder in my drink, so at least it's not from a powdered mix! The staff is friendly and prices are fair. Hope these guys do well!
