On a family trip to Chicago, we decided to try one of the city’s many Michelin-starred restaurants, and after doing a lot of research, we landed on Ever.

“This wasn’t just dinner.”
This wasn’t just dinner. It was discipline, restraint, and intention on a plate. From the moment you walk in, Ever feels calm but serious. Not stiff, focused. The kitchen runs like a well-rehearsed orchestra, and every course lands exactly where it’s supposed to. The food is thoughtful in the best way. Nothing shouts for attention, yet every bite holds it. Clean flavors, sharp technique, and purpose behind every component. This is cooking that trusts itself. The A5 beef with the broccoli quenelle was outstanding, luxurious without excess. The beef was rich and perfectly judged, while the broccoli provided balance and restraint. Not a garnish. A counterpoint. Their take on a caprese salad was genius. Familiar flavors, completely reimagined, honoring the idea without being trapped by it. There isn’t enough room here to fully explain every course and give each the justice it deserves. The menu works as a progression, not a highlight reel, and that restraint is part of what makes it special. Service was flawless without being performative, warm, informed, and perfectly timed. This is a destination meal. One you think about afterward. A reminder of why fine dining, when done right, still matters

An absolute masterclass in dining. I was floored by the consistency here—it is rare to love every single course on a tasting menu, but every dish was flawless. You can tell that every tiny detail has been meticulously thought out. We also did the wine pairing and it was spectacular. Between the artistry of Chef Duffy’s plates and the world class hospitality, this was an unforgettable experience. Truly impressed!

Inventive and superb presentations with excellent service. The atmosphere had a great, sophisticated feel and the experience was one to remember. If you appreciate the art of dining, this is a must-visit. EVER produces some of the most inventive and gorgeous presentations I’ve seen, paired perfectly with a sophisticated atmosphere that sets the tone for a special night. What stood out most was the attentive service; they truly understand the rhythm of a long, leisurely dinner. It’s an experience to remember, so clear your schedule for a couple of hours and simply enjoy the show."

Ufff. What a place! It seems to be a bit outside of downtown and the tourist part of the city, but I can’t be sure, as it was my first time in Chicago. It has been perfect since our arrival, with a warm welcome from the receptionists. The ambience is formal and discreet, with lovely internal architecture and tables well apart, giving you a lot of privacy. The service is distant but very well coordinated. The restaurant has a small but efficient wine list and good support from the sommelier. The food presentation was superb, with some dishes having “special effects “that let you perceive all the efforts and techniques.

I wish I could give this experience 6 stars as everything was THAT GREAT! It was my first experience at a Michelin star restaurant and surprised my mom with this experience. This is going to be a long review but worth it. I reached out to the restaurant manager prior to booking a reservation, to confirm the ability to accommodate my mom's dietary restriction (gluten-free due to celiac disease). The manager got back to me right away and was very reassuring about accommodating her restriction. The manager was warm and welcoming right from the initial email. My mom and I are both fans of the Bear, and mentioned this in my email. I decided to splurge and book the reservation as a special gift/experience to have with my mom. If you are a fan of the Bear, and have seen "forks" I would say this is an accurate representation of the restaurant. I would say the experience was hospitality on the highest level. It truly was an experience. The entire staff was so attentive, pleasant, knowledgeable, professional, yet not stuffy or pretentious. Now on to the food...it was a 10 course experience. I have been to "upscale" "fancy" restaurants before with a tasty menu and left hungry, annoyed, spent a lot of money. This was NOT the case here. Of course with a tasting menu the portion is meant to be small. However, we both felt that each course was the perfect size to get a complete tasting experience of the dish's concept and so packed with flavor, by the end, neither of us could eat anymore! It was by far the best meal of my life and the best dining experience. I haven't been to any other Michelin star restaurant and not sure if I will ever have the opportunity again, but if so, Ever set a very high bar. It was a once in a lifetime experience for my mom, and we were so grateful the staff made us feel so welcome and special. Truly an incredible experience.

This was my third time dining at Ever, and once again, it did not disappoint. I’ve been to nearly 30 Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and Ever consistently remains in my top two. The food is flawless, the service is out of this world, and the entire experience is so thoughtfully curated. Every detail feels intentional. I’ve also hosted two events here, and every time, my guests leave feeling completely wowed. They talk about it every time I see them. It’s that memorable. The visit to the kitchen is a 10 out of 10 experience on its own. Honestly, I cannot believe this restaurant doesn’t have three Michelin stars. It is undefeated. Ever is truly in a league of its own.

Incredible dining experience. Worth the price and deserving of the Michelin stars. Every dish was memorable in its own unique way. Pro tip, try the non alcoholic pairing instead of the wine pairing. They do non alcoholic pairings like no other restaurant can.
