I didn't realize that our "experience" was emphasized on the drinks, and the little food they gave us was just enough so we weren't drinking on an empty stomach and puking all over the place. Owned by the Alinea Group, The Aviary is known for its fantastic, cleverly designed cocktails are not just visually appealing but taste great as well! I did the 3-course cocktail tasting which really is the way to go to try a few of their excellent drinks. I got lucky to have Benjamin as my server who was filled with knowledge which is just what I wanted. Also, thanks to Ian as well for the VIP service! Jack and Ebony in reservations were extremely helpful as well. When I come back to Chicago, I’m definitely returning to The Aviary and maybe their sister bar, The Office, more of a classical speakeasy vibe.”

The mixologists deserve serious credit for their thoughtful experimentation with global flavors—balancing complementary and contrasting notes, surprising textures, and sensory touches that feel nostalgic and adventurous at the same time. The food holds its own too. Don’t miss the giant onion ring or the Chip n Dip—both are as fun as they are delicious. Yes, it’s on the pricier side, but the cocktail tasting experience makes it worthwhile. A perfect late-night spot for great conversations and drinks that ooze personality.”
“The Alinea group always delivers an amazing experience and The Aviary is no exception. We did the 3 drink experience which gave us an opportunity to get 6 different drinks from their menu. Some presentations came with fire, others with smoke. No matter what, they all came with incredible flavor. I had one pick that didnt sit well with me, and the waitstaff replaced it with a different option immediately. Incredible service. It is not cheap, but it IS worth it.”
“I have done the 5 course Aviary experience and I am about to do the 7 course experience. I have no doubt it will be exquisite based on past visits. Cocktails are fun and innovative and food pairings are a treat and fun as well. I also wish to note. Service and hospitality are amazing. I had to cancel due to snow storm the first time at the last minute and they refunded and let me pick my own rescheduling I have also emailed hospitality services with questions and requests and they have always been helpful and pulled off most any request I had. And if they are not, well, no one is perfect, but they come pretty damn close to perfection in my opinion!!! My thanks always to staff!!!”
