Tian Bistro 田家食府
Tian Bistro 田家食府 — honest chinese in Evanston, where the Duck is worth ordering. Polished but not pretentious. The kitchen takes tradition seriously. Christina Huynh: "The duck was rich and tasted clean with absolutely no gaminess"

“Big fan of their cauliflower and dumplings! This is a big win for Evanston - to have this quality of Chinese food so close to Northwestern is quite nice. The dumplings were so juicy and the cauliflower flavor was amazing! I wasn’t as big of a fan of their twice cooked pork (could have done with more flavor/sauce), but overall this was a delicious and reasonably affordable meal!”

“Super friendly staff and the manager is so nice! We ordered half set of the roasted duck, seared green beans, and spicy wonton (or hongyou chaoshou). Everything went so well. We appreciated it.”

“The duck is delicious. The meat is moist amd tender while the skin is crisp with a slight sweetness from their glaze. The fat is rendered beautifully and the meat is sliced off of the bird tableside by the chef. Itis served on a plate thar is over a votive candle to keep your duck warm. We got a full duck preparation which was $88 which included all of the meat from the duck, 24 lotus root pancakes that were very thin and tender, housing auce, garlic paste, sliced cucumber, sliced green onion, and a pickled item. Everyone also got a bowl of duck broth soup that was very Rick and had shredded cabbage in it. Also on the table was soy sauce, vinegar that tasted like malt vinegar that may have been mixed with another vinegar, and house made chili oil that was very flavorful. We also ordered the Dan Dan noodles that while not very spicy had great flavor to them. The noodles were cooked perfectly. The duck does require a reservation made at least 24 hours in advance and can be reserved as a whole duck or half duck. On their website the duck can also be ordered for carry out but also requires 24 hour advanced notice. I would highly recommend Tian Bistro and will definitely be returning.”

“Excelente comida, atendimento e ambiente!!! Recomendo!!”

“Love this place. I've been here four times and the quality and quantity of food you get is always so good. The price is very good for a restaurant of this quality and is very authentic. I've had the duck twice and I highly recommend you reserve it to try. The staff are so welcoming and nice. The dishes always taste so much better than expected. Highly highly recommend 🙏”

“Wonderful Chinese food, Wonderdul experience: This was our second visit to Tien Bistro. Tonight we ordered the Eggplant in a special sauce, it’s soooo amazing and delicious. The eggplant is cut diagonally and pieces are just right and melt in your mouth, literally. We also had the beef in a chili sauce, so tender, cooked perfectly, really tasty. We also ordered the.wontons filled with beef and onion, it’s very succulent and the sauce is very complementary. It’s home made. So great to have such a jewel of a restaurant close to where we live. No need to drive down to Chinatown!”

“So much delicious food! Hands down one of my top three Chinese places in Evanston but definitely the place to go for soup dumplings and a duck dinner! Make sure that you make reservations and order the duck dinner at least 24 hours in advance.”

“As a native Beijing-er who’s been living in the US for ten years, I can say this is one of the best Peking duck I’ve had in the US! Other dishes were delicious too. Also love the great environment and service. Highly recommend!”
