Antico
Antico — Bucktown italian anchored by the Gnocchi. Feels like it's been there since before the neighborhood changed. Traditional preparation with honest flavors. Daphne Young: "The short ribs were so tender and perfectly flavored" [patio]

“One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Chicago that we can remember. Warm, welcoming, down to earth staff. Cozy atmosphere. Wonderful dishes, with creative layering of flavors and textures. Only miss of the night was that the arugula and blood orange salad was a bit tough. My wine pairing recommendation from our server was spot on for my meal. Antico is now saved to my Chicago dining favorites.”

“The food was lovely, the restaurant quiet, the staff impeccable. J knew the entire menu, how to pair things, made incredible recommendations, and it was a lovely experience through and through.”

“Fantastic spot that's a bit hidden away off the main drag. Everything we got was delicious and made fully in house, including the pasta. Service was great and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend getting the combo that lets you try a dish for each course selection.”

“Oh my this was the best brown butter gnocchi was melt in your mouth and the veal chop devine”

“What a hidden gem! Chicago has amazing Italian restaurants and this has to be one of the best! Amazing food and service, upscale but relaxed and unpretentious...took me back to Italy. Thanks Nora for making our night special!”

“Absolutely phenomenal experience at Antico Italian Restaurant! The food was AMAZING—every single course was cooked to absolute perfection. From start to finish, each bite was better than the last. The service was top-tier, attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and truly elevated the whole dining experience. Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Can’t wait to come back!”

“It is a small place with outstanding food (Northern Italian) & service! The menu had such delicious choices we could not decide. They also have the option where you get antipasti, primi, secondi & dessert for one price. We figured it was too much food & went with the server's suggestion-share an appetizer, a pasta & each order an entrée. We were also unfamiliar with the wines & she made a suggestion-i did not like the 1st, but had a glass of the 2nd one she suggested. They also have delicious cocktails. We truly enjoyed our visit & hope to go back the next time I'm in Chicago.”

“Our server, Ryan, was absolutely fantastic. He was extremely personable and knowledgeable about the menu. I have a lot of food allergies but he didn’t let that scare him and had great suggestions and modification options. My friend and I split one of each course and it was delicious! Cute and quaint neighborhood spot, that grows their own herbs and food when they can. Cute covered garden area in the back.”

“Simply incredible meal here for date night. All of the food was so so fresh. It’s chef owned and you can TELL. We simply couldn’t get enough - we got the pate, mushroom pappardelle, and Bronzino. Charming back patio as well which smelled great thanks to them growing the restaurant’s herbs there. We will be back very soon!!”

“A lovely, intimate Northern Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and quiet. You have to call in or email for reservations but it’s worth the extra step for this gem. Service is very attentive, staff are knowledgeable and able to help guide menu decisions. They will push main courses but the homemade pasta is the star of the show and can be upgraded to entree sizes. A great meal can be made from appetizers and entree sized pastas. Appetizers are on the small side. Burrata is flown in from Italy. There’s a traditional with tomatoes and usually a special. Fantastic. Beet salad with arugula is light on beets. Pear salad was a special. Melon and prosciutto is a great combination and slightly larger appetizer. Pastas - change from the antipasti size to entree and order many to share. I can’t say there’s a favorite. They’re all homemade and hard to beat. I would recommend getting at least one of the gnocchis. I’ve never had gnocchi so light and airy. Desserts - panna cotta was the table favorite. Flourless chocolate cake is an excellent rendition. Lemon cake is light and airy after a big pasta dinner. You can either eat in the more upscale dining room or the slightly more casual deck with fig trees, lemon trees, grapevines, herb boxes, and a fireplace.”
