Yokocho Handrolls and Omakase Bar
Yokocho Handrolls and Omakase Bar — one of West Loop's strongest japanese spots. Nothing about this place is trying to impress you, and that's the point. The cocktail list is worth exploring. "The vibe is more like an American-Japanese bar—lively and dimly lit—but the food was phenomenal" — Piggly Wiggly [$$]

“Excellent menu. Nice range of prices on handrolls so you can stay inexpensive or go really over the top. We tried a mix of both. Everything tasted great. The uni cheesecake was kind of an odd combination. It wasn't for me, but my wife loved it. The two best handrolls we had were the truffle hamachi and Hokkaido scallop. The wagyu crispy rice was also amazing. Looking forward to coming back.”

“So yummy!!! Amazing vibes inside. Loved the restaurant week menu”

“Sat at the bar and had an amazing omakase dinner at Yokocho! Every course was fresh, thoughtful, and so well balanced from the nigiri to the handrolls to the strawberry matcha sando at the end. The chefs were so intentional, and the service made the whole experience feel special. Definitely a must-try if you love sushi or want an elevated night out in Fulton Market”

“Having been to Tokyo I’m ecstatic Chicago has its own Yokocho and the back alley vibes are perfect here. The nigiri was so good but those shrimp dumplings and the blue crab hand roll wow. The matcha sando was great too. Loved their drinks, especially the celery one. Get it all! Killer happy hour too from 5-7pm @chicagopescetarian”

“high quality fish and fantastic happy hour deal ($6 traditional handrolls)! i enjoyed their salmon a lot - it was so fresh and tasty, and it left such a clean aftertaste in my mouth. i’d come back and order like 6 of their sake & cucumber handroll. definitely somewhere i’d revisit over and over again for happy hour!”

“I came for happy hour and the handrolls are reasonably priced and good quality. I liked the uni cheesecake. I tried the toki highball- not for me, but I’m not a typical alcohol drinker. Staff was attentive and checked on me a lot.”

“Came here for a second time and this place is great for a date night or even a girls night out. We got seated right away and the prices during happy hour is amazing. The hand rolls if you decide to seat at the counter you can see them make it right in front of you. The matcha Sando was so good. Will keep coming back soon.”

“I’m already excited to go back. The speed that the handrolls were presented, the freshness of the seafood, and the mindful preparation were all soooooo good and left little to be desired. A little show stopper ending would be the strawberry sandwich dessert. Everything about it was so legit. Also the happy hour prices were perfect and will get me back in the door again and again and again.”

“standing ovation to Chef Mariano. First time trying handrolls and im a BIG FAN. Every single roll was amazing. Must try the truffle hamachi handroll”

“Great quality fish and fun dishes! Loved the negi toro caviar bite and the strawberry sando. Lovely highball too! Good ginger and nice higher quality wasabi on the side too.”

“Holy delicious. Menu changed weekly. Amazing warm chefs , hostesses and rest of staff. Drinks are good too”
