Food is the segue to our shared humanity as it is the one thing that binds us together on our human journey. This place is a hidden gem, across the Fire Department, don't miss it. The ambiance inside pulls you in, wish I could have grabbed a squat. I had a conversation with "V" and the passion that he has for the human experience, engaging with customer is without rival. I got the Tempura rolls and a Asparagus Roll which were some of the best that I ever had and I've had the privilege of bouncing around the Earth on a culinary scale. This is my new go-to whenever I'm in Chicago. Sushi X hits the spot!

Best vegetarian sushi I have had in Chicago. They were nice enough to replace all non-veg ingredients with whatever we like. We had veg gyoza, godzilla, dragonfly and red crush sushi. everything was on spot.

Went in around 5pm, the staff was very chipper and got us seated. They checked in pretty consistently and refilled our water at a good pace. There was a good variety of sushi rolls- since I don't eat sushi with uncooked fish, that was real nice to find out! The music was a fun collection of covers of modern & 2010s pop, with some 80s covers sprinkled in. The place was decorated with anime-themed memorabilia, though not too much. Small repairs were being done in the bathroom, but it was still usable. I hope this place gets more love!

I live around the corner from this sushi spot and never knew it was here. Lol. I'm not sure that I was fully convinced by the flavors, but it was good enough for me to give it another try. I really liked the interiors—the perfect amount of lighting and music choice. My only comment for improvement would be not to play sports on the projection wall. It kinda kills the vibe of the place, particularly because the aesthetics of the restaurant seem to be completely different from a sports restaurant. From my view, the idea of this place is to create a Japanese urban feel. It would be cool to see this portrayed on the projection screen. I know Japan has some cool urban history. +prices are affordable Edit- went here for the second time and I had the red chicken. It was delicious, they were also playing some cool music. My rating has gone up to 5 stars.

Love!! I didn't get any food photos because my sushi rolls were so delicious I couldn't stop eating them 😋😂 Great little spot - intimate and hip. Big video on the wall with good music, which added to the vibe. On top of that, the waiter and manager were both on top of their game and had great banter. We'd had some less than stellar interactions today, so it was great to be somewhere with friendly, helpful and *on it* staff. Prices were great for the quality of the food and seriously, it was so good. Five stars for everything, for sure. My friend got the mini platter with an unagi roll and loved it, I got the Godzilla roll and the Japan-a-Wrap, which was great. The last didn't have rice which was kind of incredible - i don't think I've ever encountered a sushi spot that had rice free rolls but i would have killed for those when I was on a low carb diet. Thankfully, now I can eat rice to my heart's content, but I was just delighted to see an option like that! This would be a great spot for a date night- it was cozy enough that you could talk to your table partners but also had enough background noise to keep from hearing other's conversations.

You can’t miss this place since the front of the restaurant is covered in a huge mural of a woman. Dinning room is small, maybe 7 tables. The staff is super friendly. There is plants street parking around. Check out their monthly deals for heavily discounted items. Tried the DoubleStack With tuna, salmon, cilantro, avocado, mayo, masago and citrus chili ponzu and the Spicy Tuna w/ masago, sriracha and mayo. Both were very good
