SUSHI DOKKU Japanese Restaurant — the Sushi leads at this top-tier West Loop japanese spot. Good energy here, especially on weekends. If you drink, start at the bar. Sameet Sapra: "The Ecuador roll was good but perhaps that’s the best roll among the rest on the menu"

Ordered about $90 of stuff via ubereats at 7:10pm. They were still "preparing" by 8:30.

We came in a tuesday night and had drinks and sushi/nigiri, with edamame and deviled eggs. Great service at the bar and we loved the dragon and tarantula rolls. Thank you Sushi Dokku! They also have a bar downstairs we visited afterwards. Great spot in west loop for sushi.

“So I blew it today shopping.”
So I blew it today shopping. She didn’t like any of the earrings or watches I wanted to buy her. So dinner tonight was my last chance to impress this girl. We bonded over 2 divine rolls, a Salmon Nigri, and some peppers. A fire started in the restaurant across the street that was emblematic of the heat I’m feeling between her and I. I really feel like after this lovely dinner, I’m so in there. Also, she loves espresso martinis; so that helped.

“Came for dinner and the sushi was amazing.”
Came for dinner and the sushi was amazing! Made reservations for the sushi bar and the view did not disappoint. The sushi chefs were busy making sushi from the time I arrived until I left! I ordered a pear up cocktail and it’s spot on! Very delicious - made this my drink of the night. I started with the miso soup and hamachi ponzu. I thoroughly enjoyed the hamachi ponzu and didn’t want the plate to end! Other items I ordered were: maguro, sake, and tako nigiri. The fish tasted very fresh and I enjoyed the chef dressed on the tako. I also ordered the seared salmon and albacore roll and enjoyed it as well. The pieces were a decent size and flavor combinations worked well together. Overall, this is great spot for amazing sushi!

“Good sushi in Fulton Market.”
Good sushi in Fulton Market! Its very tasty and generous portions. The tuna nigiri was really good and the pork gyozas as appetizer a great choice. I have some seafood allergies so the server suggested nice recommendations. Good location too.

“Hands down one of the most memorable sushi experiences I’ve had in Chicago.”
Hands down one of the most memorable sushi experiences I’ve had in Chicago. I popped into Dokku Sushi on a Monday evening for a quick bite and was completely blown away. The service—especially from David—was warm, attentive, and absolutely impeccable. He struck the perfect balance between professional and welcoming, making the whole experience feel elevated yet relaxed. The scallop sushi in particular deserves special mention. The flavor was deep, delicate, and sophisticated—a beautiful balance of brine, sweetness, and umami that lingered in the best way. You could truly taste the freshness and care in every bite. The fresh water oysters had a kind of quiet complexity that made them stand out from anything else I’ve had in the city. This is the kind of place that takes sushi seriously, and it shows in every detail—from the quality of the fish to the pacing of the meal. I’m already planning my return, and this time I’m going all in on their omakase experience. Can’t wait to see what else the chef has in store. Dokku is a true gem in West Loop

“Absolutely a place to go — top sushi spot, hands down.”
Absolutely a place to go — top sushi spot, hands down. We ordered miso soup, the Godzilla roll, spicy tuna, and the Dragon roll. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly delicious. The miso soup wasn’t one of those watered-down versions you might find elsewhere; it was rich and tasty — felt like the real recipe. The maki rolls were phenomenally good. I’d definitely come back and recommend this place to everyone. Oh, and they also served those little towels to clean your hands — so cool!

“Sushidokku – A Hidden Gem in the West Loop.”
Sushidokku – A Hidden Gem in the West Loop! 🍣✨ Sushidokku is one of those places where the price tag feels totally justified because the food is next-level. A solid 10/10 for sure! 😍 Let’s talk about the drinks first – the pear up is a game-changer. Crisp, refreshing, and just what you need to start the meal off right. 🍐 As for the food, the takoyaki (octopus) was packed with flavor, and the hamachi with ponzu sauce is so fresh, we had to order it twice. The Ecuador Roll is massive and definitely worth every bite – you’re going to want that on your table. The tataki tuna was good but the japanese mustard has a kick I was not expecting. And do yourself a favor and save room for the matcha cheesecake… it’s a showstopper. 🍰 Service? Hands down the best waitress we’ve had in a while. Super attentive and genuinely made the experience feel special. 🏅 The location is perfect for a date or a small gathering with friends in the West Loop. The ambiance is relaxed but chic – soft lighting, great music, and a vibe that’s not too loud, so you can actually enjoy your meal. 🎶 One thing to note – the place is small and gets crowded fast, so reservation is definitely recommended. In fact, getting a table can be insanely difficult (we booked a month ahead), so if you’re planning to visit, definitely book beforehand. It’s worth the effort, but you’ll want to plan if you're coming for a few days. It’s also on the pricier side – expect to spend around $100 per person, which includes a bottle of sake. But trust me, it’s worth every penny for the quality of food and the overall experience. 💸 A heads-up: there’s just one girl’s bathroom, so there might be a wait. 🚻 The food came out super fast, which was a nice surprise, but it did get a bit chilly – we had to stay inside instead of enjoying the outdoor seating that day. Overall, Sushidokku is definitely worth the splurge. Amazing food, incredible drinks, and an atmosphere that’ll make you want to stay a little longer. 🌟

The Ecuador roll and the chef prepared nigiri rolls were excellent - the marinated salmon and especially the scallop was perfectly tender and excellent flavors. The Ecuador roll was good but perhaps that’s the best roll among the rest on the menu. I also enjoyed the Miso soup a lot, it was deeply flavored. I liked the ambiance as well, but not sure the value of this restaurant holds up over time, I found this to be very expensive for the amount of food you get.
