The Outpost Mexican Eatery
The Outpost Mexican Eatery — well-regarded mexican in West Loop. Traditional preparation with honest flavors. Good service that doesn't feel rehearsed, and easy on the wallet. Kurt Wickboldt: "The shrimp was grilled perfectly and the fresh avocado was a nice touch" [$]

“Buenos Tacos, tienen mucha carne y las salsas van desde no picosas hasta picosas , muy buena atención y rápida”

“Trato excelente por parte de la cajera que no pregunte su nombre lamentablemente, pero era de Veracruz, muy amable, gracias por las atenciones, Matías estuvo muy feliz. Los tacos muy ricos y un postre tipo buñuelos delicioso 😋.”

“Muy Ricos tacos las salsas Muy Ricas y el servicio muy bueno”

“Some very bomb chilequiles! An oasis off the beaten path, and directly across the street from Union Station. I was given a warm welcome greeting by the lovely woman at the counter. I was surprised to have had my food brought to me which just feels like the extra mile and i very much appreciated the service! The Chilequiles was beautifully presented, and cooked to perfectiong. The chips where saucy and with a slight crisp, the crema was tart and fresh, and the cilantro could not have vern fresher. The entire restaurant was spotless even in spite of the St Patties day traffic. I WILL be coming again when I am in the city! Check it out”

“Tacos are so good that me and my friends can't stop eating! Will definitely back again since we work in the building right next to it!”

“I ordered Take out from here. Got a quesadilla with ground beef, this was perfectly juicy from the beef grease (it wasn’t dripping which sometimes that could be too much), and I love so much there’s a lot of flavor in the beef with onion. I also love they give you a few cups of salsa and sour cream. Elote was delicious, too. Service was nice and quick”

“I’ve never wanted to throw hands over an elote before and I should’ve read the description.. but it’s basically just tajin. $5 for tajin on corn. Picture attached so you know I’m being legit. Also got a chicken taco for $2taco Tuesday. It was a little dry but well seasoned and extra chicken. But the elote was the reason I went, and now I feel finessed.”
“Massive burrito for only $11. Authentic, flavorful and clean restaurant. Very friendly staff!”
“I absolutely LOVE The Outpost Mexican Eatery!! Not only is their food so amazingly fresh & flavorful but the staff is incredible!! From Gina (the cashier who greets you with a smile; she’s the best!!) to the talented Kitchen staff making magic with their food to Anna Kamilis (the owner) being so caring towards customers, passionate about this successful business and a true professional leader of this awesome team! You can’t help but to fall in love with this restaurant!! You feel the devotion as soon as you walk into the restaurant (I frequent their Chicago location on the corner of Madison & Canal) or place a catering order with Anna then one bite of their food and you’re hooked!! I could eat there everyday: my favorite meals are their Birria Tacos with the consommé or their sides of Elote, Guacamole & Pico de gallo with tortilla chips or the Steak Tacos with refried beans and rice and I can’t forget about their cinnamon sugar coated Churros with the side of chocolate dipping sauce!! Even their Horachta is so refreshing; served ice cold, sweet & creamy, vanilla & cinnamon flavored: it’s totally a liquid churro in a cup!! Heavenly!! I won’t ever get tired of their menu and you won’t be disappointed by their cuisine for everything is delicious!! I will be a customer for life: check them out and you’ll feel the same way! Keep up the great work, The Outpost Mexican Eatery!! Love you❤️🙏🏾!!”
“I’m in love with their Picadillo and Al Pastor tacos and their salsas are so good. Wasn’t sure what to think about it because I just changed jobs to a block away from here and saw their taco Tuesday sign. That’s when I tried it out and I was not let down. Definitely try to get in there before or after the lunch rush.”
