Tacombi — a mexican spot in West Loop. Buzzy, energetic room where the crowd adds to it. You're eating the real thing here. [$$, patio]

I highly recommend Tacombi. I was in the area and wanted a quick snack, so I came and ordered an Avocado Tostada and Black Bean and Sweet Potato Taco. They were both delicious, as well as the crafy Orange Soda and amazing salsas. I will be returning for a breakfast taco.

It has been disappointing to see how the food has changed over the last few months. I used to enjoy Tacombi frequently but my most recent visits have been a letdown - especially with the portion sizes. Pictured - the Al Pastor Burrita as advertised versus what was received

Bland and not filling. Trying too hard to mimic a taco stand from Mexico, but the food doesn’t come close in taste, and the salsas aren’t nearly spicy enough. I had three tacos: the pastor isn’t even close to a real one from Mexico—restaurants should really call it what it is, marinated pork. The beef ribeye was another disappointment: two thin slices of ham-like ribeye, resembling Arby’s, just a bit crispier. And finally, the birria—another letdown. Cheese in it?! Consomé served in a cup that makes it hard to dip the taco. “Burritas”? Clever name, but these are not typical of a taco stand in Mexico. If anything, they should be offering tortas. Drinks seemed fine, but bad food does not entice you to drink. A disappointing experience — I will not eat here again.

Aesthetics give taqueria in Mexico while the food caters to white American taste buds. Portions are really bad- tacos are not filled with meat and salsa cups aren’t filled completely. The michelada was extremely disappointing and tastes like chipotle sauce was mashed and mixed with lime juice and beer. The Al pastor taco was extremely dry- seemed like the meat had been reheated and cooked until completely dry. Seared fish taco seemed appealing but had zero flavor aside from the toppings. Soooooo disappointed but not surprised for a taqueria in west loop.. Final update: Food was so bad it made me homesick and want to book a flight to CDMX and get some REAL tacos. Really sad this place was a flop the inside is beautiful and takes you back to a real taqueria in Mexico. If you want the real deal support a small business or taqueria in La Villita or Pilsen and you’ll get better portions and real authentic flavor. $80 for some mid ass tacos 0 stars

Had high expectations of this place but delivery was very disappointing. The birria “burrita” was so oily, close to no meat, and an I got an entire jalapeño inside. The flavor was also not there since all I tasted was canned chipotle peppers. Large guacamole was pretty overpriced but was the only thing I enjoyed from my order.

I particularly liked the Sinaloa shrimp taco! And of course, guac+chips are always a winner.
