“Excellent hand made food. Great spices and flavors. Authentic recipes from Macau, Portugal and Maylasia. Great service. Relaxed party atmosphere. Wonderful Ladies Room lounge. Great wine and cocktails. Recommend egg tarts. Highly recommended.”

“Noodle Bird at Fat Rice is seriously impressive and stands out as one of the best spots for high-quality Asian food. From the moment you walk in, everything feels welcoming and easy. It was simple to find a seat, and staff were quick to clean the table and help us get settled. Since it was our first visit, ordering at the counter was explained clearly, and the staff gave great recommendations that made choosing from the menu much easier. That kind of helpful, friendly service really sets the tone for the whole experience. The food itself is incredible. Every dish feels like true comfort food, elevated with bold flavors and thoughtful preparation. The noodles have the perfect texture, and the sauces bring a great balance of spice and tang that makes each bite memorable. You can tell a lot of care goes into every detail. Overall, it is the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression. Warm, flavorful, and satisfying in every way, this is definitely a spot worth coming back to again and again.”

“Had a great meal here, with a bunch of well executed Asian takes on street food in a fast-casual setting that makes it all really accessible. The chicken curry hand pie was basically a samosa croissant, very buttery, a bit of a cheat code. I had the minced soy sauce beef rice bowl, and the textures and flavors were great, with the beef and egg well cooked and the peanuts a highlight. I needed heat, but the hot sauces available were fun and interesting profiles to match with different dishes, and the phoenix fire got the dish to the perfect flavor balance I wanted. My only quibble, as a bit of a rice bowl slopper, was that the bok choy didn’t eat as smoothly as the rest of the dish, but as a vegetable to fit with the dish’s flavor it was good. My partner had the XO hand rolled noodles with shrimp. The noodle chewiness was great plus the mix of veggies were all good. A touch over sauced and at the bottom of the bowl you get why XO sauce is called that, it’s very strong and rich, but that also made it good. I had the ginger lemon and tumeric house soda and it was very perfectly tart and fizzy to go with the meal. We enjoyed ourselves so much we ended with an egg tart, and it was the perfect custardy-ness, again probably from the butter in pastry cheat code. The overall vibe here was chill and friendly, and we had a blast.”

“The food was really tasty and the portion sizes were big. The water and utensils are self-serve, and you order through a QR code at the table. Many of the plates are large enough to share with two or more people. It's a nice, cozy spot, but tables are limited and it can get busy. There are also seats available at the bar.”

“Food was excellent here. The dumplings and fritters were great. The pork belly was one of the best I’ve had around. Service and atmosphere complemented the food fabulously. Best egg tarts in Chicago. Highly recommend.”

“You're only hurting yourself if you don't come. Actually, on second thought, don't come. I don't want it to be too busy when I'm here next”

“Update August 2025 The new cafe is open! This is a great place!! Update October 2024 Just got some shrimp and garlic dumplings and egg tarts. Took it home. OMG These two dishes are World Class! Compliments to the chefs! It doesn’t get better. Hey Noodlebirds. I'll be there in a few weeks. What's Good! Fantastic Authentic Yummy! I was visiting Chi and staying down the block when my friend told me about this place. But I think he only mentioned the donuts. I had their menu headliner chicken dish which was nice and juicy and well spiced with some exotic aromas. Also took out their frozen shrimp dumplings - amazing with big chuncks of nice shrimp inside. They picked some very nice shrimp of which I'd never heard so I looked it up and wow! The shrimp are from Oishii Sshrimp. Check it out and lemme tell you they make some tasty dumplings here. Their dumplings are not the typical style with a thin wrapper. They are substantial here with a nice chew. The shrimp - next time I'll try their peel and eat jumbo shrimp. I also took out their pork dumplings and ate too many they were that good. Once again, something exotic in the taste. The boss and all the staff I met there were warm and welcoming and you bet I'll be back. PS They made me a very tasty version of Negroni while I was waiting. Nice. Obviously I'm a big fan and if you look up my past reviews on Google Maps, you will see that I'm also a harsh critic so when I rave as I have about Noodlebird, you can bet it's worth it.”

“The pastries are really good! Best sticky bun I've ever had”

“We really enjoyed NoodleBird. Creative menu offerings. My partner really enjoyed the Wok Seared Pork Noodles. The texture of the rolled noodles was divine! My mistake for ordering one of the specials they had that day - Polish sausage with rice (not pictured) simply had too many flavors going on. Next time I’ll try one of their regular menu dishes. The egg tarts for dessert were simply delicious and I could eat an entire meal of just those! Order from your phone which didn’t bother us.”

“This place is a solid 4 star spot. I got the lo mein noodles. The flavor was great. I added chicken thigh and that’s where they lost a star. Chicken was bland and could have been better cooked/seared. So much flavor everywhere else though.”

“We dined in a few months ago, it just occurred to me that I can post this review and hopefully it will be seen. I think this is a good spot, maybe I just ordered the wrong stuff. Biggest complaint: The cabbage “salad” is horrible. Literally just giant pieces of squeaky fresh cabbage that is inedible. It needs to be changed, maybe cut finer and marinated in dressing so it can break down a little bit? The chicken in the chicken soup was good and tender. It is a kids meal so it makes sense that it may be more on the plain side. It was freezing cold outside so it hit the spot TBH. Wontons were good, fried rice was goo. Maybe I just need to try other stuff to be really satisfied EDIT: I meant “good”!!! Typo. The rice was good!! It wasn’t mushy at all, sorry for the confusion!!!”

“Been meaning to try this place for a while now. Wanted my visit to coincide with their happy hour & be able to enjoy something from their sister location next door: 'Bird Bird' (which is only open Sat/ Sun.. so really had to plan). Mentioned I was a first-timer interested in their Bbq Pork or Scallion Pancakes, mostly based on pictures from google reviews, BUT was here to score the happy hour. I'm not sure what was misunderstood but I ended up paying full price & basically could've visited at anytime (since nothing I orded was included in their happy hour 🙄). The pork was a bit chewy & not as tender as I had imagined. The 'Dreamsicle' drink satiated my sweet tooth. Tried to use their 'Phoenix Fire' sauce but literally could barely shake a few drops on my rice (sat at the empty bar & no one cared to engage.. even after dramatically struggling with the bottle for a bit.) Lastly, had to remind someone that I ordered an Egg Tart 30 mins ago but seems they forgot.. it was decent but the poor service made it unappetizing. It wasn't really a good first impression, especially for a solo diner at the empty bar who's never been before. I guess I can see the potential but there's much to be desired”
