“Great food at great prices! I went to try the taqueria at Supermercado Almita specifically because I saw online that the owner sweeps up the bike lane and the sidewalk every morning. As someone who loves to bike around Chicago, I appreciate the protected bike lanes that are being installed, and I will happily spend my money at businesses that embrace bikeability. I got two carne asada tacos and one al pastor taco. I chose lettuce, tomato, and onion, and next time I'll try cilantro & onion. The tacos hit the spot; they were loaded with meat, and the corn tortillas were great. Awesome yet unassuming market & taqueria. I will be back for more.”
“Unassuming place at first glance but the man and woman who were there were very kind and served me what was hands down the BEST carne asada torta I've had in Chicago. Great prices and amazing food! Cash only but there's an ATM down the street. Thanks to the owner for a fire meal!!! 6/5 stars”
“Excellent little spot in Edgewater serving up old school deliciousness! This is exactly how I remember Mexican food growing up and in college. No fancy fusions or ingredients. Just simple ingredients with rich flavor. Nestled inside of a bodega, this restaurant has limited table and counter service. The owners are very nice and hospitable! Note: cash only.”
