Las Mañanitas Restaurant — a mexican spot in Lakeview. No frills and no gimmicks, just a solid honest room. Ron L: "The house margherita was made fresh and the Tajin on the rim really topped it off"

This restaurant is in a great location in boystown and the food, staff and owner are great.
Great spot for a date night. Get a pitcher of margaritas with a nice tequila... Food was great, service was 9/10.
Picture this. The year was 1996 and aol instant messenger was the in thing to do. For me it was ChicagoM4M room.

This restaurant is in a great location in boystown and the food, staff and owner are great. We came here on our first date and every chance we get we return and have never been let down. This time we went on Halloween night and it was fun to see everyone dressed in cute costumes. A must visit location.

Update! I just came here again august 2022. Between this wonderful old school Mexican, Grindr, the bathhouse and now legal edibles, there’s so much to stick in your mouth while visiting Boystown! Love this place so much. They also have a killer Latin playlist always going. I almost asked if it’s a public playlist and if they’d share it. It should be. Wonderful. All around! Old school American Mexican food done really, really well. This is not a fancy or high end Rick Bayless type of restaurant. This is all the basics in American Mexican style cuisine done right. Everything is solid. I loved the chorizo nachos. The margaritas were good - still a touch sweet (ask for them “skinny”) but fine. The fajitas mixed shrimp, chicken and beef option is fantastic and can feed two alone. The crowd is fun - mostly gays and their hags in Boystown. Good times!!

Las Mañanitas is a great place to have some margaritas with friends. I had a Patron margarita (get it on ice instead of frozen for optimal flavor). The enchiladas and tacos were also great!

“Best mexican food in Wrigleyville/Boystown.”
Best mexican food in Wrigleyville/Boystown. Their margaritas are outta this world and their food is outstanding. I'd recommend the enchilladas suizas with red mole sauce.

“The place is cute and brings in a lot of familiar neighborhood residents.”
The place is cute and brings in a lot of familiar neighborhood residents. It's clean and obviously LGBT friendly since it's in boys town. Food was decent and good but I won't say delicious I've eaten at smaller places that had Las Mananitas beat. The pitcher of margaritas was good and enough alcohol to call it a margarita. Some places just give you juice with a little alcohol for your buck. Anyways the best thing on our plate is the meat .. Carne Asada was delicious. The rice was dry and had no flavor. I'm taking that it was 8pm on a Sunday and giving them a hall pass for the crappie rice. Over all if you're hungry and want Mexican while in the area go for it. It is not the greatest but it's not the worst either.

EXPENSIVE! Kind of upset, came for a Marg and it was delicious! Was given chips and salsa at the table, and the charged for them at the end of the bill, i thought they were complimentary and since the Margherita was the same price or more of some of the menu items i thought it was enough of a purchase, but good to know, paid 26$ for a margarita and some chips and salsa 🥲

“We came here before a Cubs game.”
We came here before a Cubs game. The house margherita was made fresh and the Tajin on the rim really topped it off. The salsa with the chips was house made. I ordered the Tacos Campesinos my wife ordered the Enchiladas in Salsa Verde. Those tacos were incredible. Every bite was seasoned and juicy, it needed nothing. The salsa verde with the enchiladas was unique. Sweet with a little pinch on the back. The chicken was juicy inside the enchiladas as well. It was a dish we couldn't stop snacking on. We came back a second time. Salsa was again on point. Margherita was a bit strong but no complaints. The Queso Fundido with chorizo was good and enough for an appetizer without filling you. This time I ordered the Burrito in Salsa Verde since I loved the salsa so much last time. My wife ordered the Milanesa de Pescade. That burrito was perfect. The steak was cooked perfectly and the burrito was only filled with that and flavorful beans. The Fish was cooked perfectly. Both times we came the service started out strong but seemed rushed and then both times our servers disappeared. Aside from that. Great place to try. We will come back.

Fernando was a really nice server. The only thing was that food took super long to get to our table and it wasn't... the best.
