My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Staff is always so kind and friendly. Their salsas are fantastic - roja or Jalisco (if you like spicy) are the best I’ve tried - even bought the bottles to take home. Tacos, gorditas, tortas, and pozole are some of my favorite. My family likes everything we’ve ever tried here and enjoy being a repeat customer.

What a great dinner experience, La Mera Mera Taqueria is a small authentic Mexican restaurant, with truly mexican flavors and colors. The variety and flavors of the tacos with hand made tortilla and the three alternative of dressing salsas make every bite tasteful and enjoyable. Thank you the owners to bring this small jewel to Libertyville and one of the greatest lunch and dinner alternatives. By the way great service and friendly atmosphere.

This review is long overdue! I used to come here often for lunch while working nearby, and it quickly became one of my favorite spots in Libertyville. The food is always delicious and full of flavor. What made the experience even better was the service. Enya especially stands out—she always welcomed me with a big smile and open arms, even on the busiest and most hectic days. Her kindness and attentiveness made every visit feel special. Even when the restaurant was short-staffed at the busiest of hours, she went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of. The atmosphere is lively, the food is consistently amazing, and the staff is truly wonderful. La Mera Mera is the kind of place you look forward to returning to again and again.

“What a stellar taqueria.”

What a stellar taqueria! I decided to leave work and grab lunch nearby and I'm so glad to have found this place. It looks like they recently renovated and the whole place is very clean and well put together. I ordered 4 tacos; while they all hit the spot, the gobernador and al pastor tacos stood out and thoroughly impressed. Adding beans and rice for $3 is a great value too. The quality of the ingredients and the quality of the tortillas really stood out and I really enjoyed the house salsas they have on hand. Service was pleasant and I got my food turned around very quickly. I'll definitely be returning here to try more of the menu!

Tried this cozy little Mexican eatery this past early November and was quite pleased with the quality of food here. Great Mexican fare all around at still reasonable prices, loved the margaritas, service is welcoming & friendly and the dining space is cozy & clean. Another go-to spot to add onto the Mexican category and if ever in the area again and have that particular craving, will most definitely stop back in.

We have been there twice now and both times were consistent. The food was delicious and presented well. The women working there are warm and friendly and so kind . The ambiance is thoughtfully curated. It’s modern with a cozy vibe. We love to support local and this place is a gem. They also have the good wooden sturdy high chairs and are so friendly to kids. No one was bothered while I ate standing and following around our kid who finished first and wanted to explore. THANKYOU for having a friendly family space. Your food is tremendous! Yes the beans and rice are flavorful! The meat has no storage rubbery pieces because it’s all been trimmed very well. The margarita is made fresh with hand squeezed lime . None of that thick overly sugary or overly sour premixed nonsense.

A delightful surprise of an authentic Mexican restaurant! The owner suggested the Queso Berrios that comes with a delicious dipping sauce. A treat indeed! Dessert was a special recipe flan I'm told was handed down from his Mother with a couple of additions of his own. Very good and different than the usual. 5 stars for food, ambience and friendly staff!
