“Such good food and margaritas! Service was great! I will come back!”

“El Mariachi on Broadway: A Cozy Neighborhood Gem Nestled in the heart of Lakeview, El Mariachi on Broadway is the kind of small, quaint Mexican restaurant that instantly feels like a local favorite. With a traditional menu and reasonable prices, it’s a welcoming spot where the staff's warmth stands out. Each visit comes with a genuine smile and a friendly greeting, making you feel like part of the neighborhood. As for the food, El Mariachi offers all the beloved classics you'd expect from a traditional Mexican kitchen. One standout favorite is their taco salad bowl, a dish that perfectly balances fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Whether you’re popping in for a casual dinner or just craving a comforting meal, this little spot on Broadway is a delightful go-to.”

“El Mariachi in Lakeview is an absolute gem for authentic Mexican cuisine. I spent about $35 on dinner, starting with their famous tableside guac—made fresh with avocado oil and packed with flavor. For the main course, I had the mole enchiladas, which were rich and savory, just like abuela used to make. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, adorned with folk art that gives it a genuine Mexican cantina vibe. They also boast an impressive selection of over 150 tequilas, perfect for sipping or crafting the ultimate margarita. Whether you're a local or just visiting, El Mariachi is a must-visit spot for a true taste of Mexico in Chicago.”

“Traveling for work and ordered pick up. Anita let me know it would be a few minutes. She was very friendly! When I sat at the table to wait, she prepared a glass of water and lit a candle for me. Excellent, warm service and, of course, great food!”

“This a cool little Mexican restaurant. We did take out for our daughter who ordered the green chili chicken burrito. It was large and perfectly done. She ordered refried beans that were smooth and creamy. Would love to come back.”

“We got all of the fajita dishes. The steak had good flavor but was a bit tough. The shrimp and chicken were very good but be aware that the tails are still attached. Good guacamole. Drinks were good as well.”

“The cheese tasted old, the guacamole was browning, the tortilla chips were greasy and the plantains were too ripe. The mushrooms were tasty, the service was attentive and the place is small and cozy.”

“The service was minimal. I had the taco salad. The ground beef was ground so fine it was practically a pate. The salad was so soggy none of the other ingredients were recognizable, except for the fresh avocado on top. I made a small well in the middle of the salad and it filled with water. It tasted fine.”
“This little restaurant is excellent. Small but mighty (and welcoming), the food is delicious, of course they have margaritas, and the staff are so friendly. The restaurant is just steps from the Best Western Hawthorn hotel, so we had dinner there several times. Highly recommended.”
