Dove's Luncheonette — among the best mexican in Wicker Park. It wears its years well. Cocktail menu runs deeper than expected. Elizabeth Dorwart: "The bacon was phenomenal and thick, and the potatoes were so crispy and flavorful"

“The Tlayuda was also ordered, and there’s nothing but good things to say — super delicious”
Really wanted to like this place but felt disappointed by the dinner.

“More than a simple lunchnette it's a very good agave bar.”
More than a simple lunchnette it's a very good agave bar. The selection of mezcal makes it one of the better mezcal bars. By the way the food is lunchnette style but with tinges of very good food

“Best breakfast potatoes I’ve ever had!”
Best breakfast potatoes I’ve ever had!! Food was a little greasy and left me feeling a bit yucky, but worth it tbh.

Verde Michelada, Burgs/Fries and Pozole. If I could have tried the entire menu I would have. Devilled eggs are on point as well.

Im from NY and that 2 hour plane ride was worth it just for those masa pancakes. Do what you wish with that information LOL. Plus I felt like I was in the 1970’s. Literally a time capsule and who doesn’t love that?!

Dove’s has the best brunch in the city! Beth is absolutely amazing and the Brisket Hash is one of our favorite meals ever. Dove’s really cares for the quality of their food and the upbeat atmosphere. This place is addicting!

“Dove’s is an unassuming “diner” serving killer modern, Mexican-inspired dishes.”
Dove’s is an unassuming “diner” serving killer modern, Mexican-inspired dishes. Put your name on the wait list, enjoy the surrounding area, and come back for an excellent meal. Chicken fried chicken, brisket hash, masa pancakes. Everything was fresh, bursting with flavor, and clearly made with care. Love the informality, eclectic vibe, and super friendly service. Huge portions at very reasonable prices. Dove’s is truly a standout in a neighborhood full of great options.

“You can tell them to put less salt in everything.”
You can tell them to put less salt in everything. And when it's ready to simply bring things out rather than waiting. And that you're going to order a lot of food. And that you want large spoons, like the one pictured. If they tell you they only have the tiny ones for coffee, that is not factual. Masa pancakes, back to life cocktail, brisket hash, chicken fried chicken, deviled eggs, gem salad. Probably never ordering the burger again, especially after having it from the happy hour menu.

An incredible meal. I honestly will dream about the Tlayuda and onion burger. Can't wait until I come back to visit Chicago and can eat at this diner again. Chip was an incredible server that brought the best vibes! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

“Delicious breakfast.”
Delicious breakfast. Had the masa pancakes, the hash, the tlayuda and the fries. I’m from San Diego where great Mexican food is common. What really surprised me was the attention to the balance of textures with the food that I don’t really see where I’m from. The crispiness of the potato skin against the creaminess of the egg and the tenderness of the brisket. The prominence of corn in a southwest or ‘texmex’ vs traditional Mexican. The lightness of adding arugula and a hint of lime to the tlayuda. This is a highlight for American-Mexican fusion.
