Big Star Wrigleyville — a mexican spot in Lakeview. Good energy here, especially on weekends. Drink selection punches above its weight. Anthony Benitez: "They were all good but the best of the bunch was the pork belly"

“Whether it's classic bar favorites, hearty mains, or quick bites, everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without breaking the bank—perfect for anyone watching their wallet around the ballpark”
I don’t even know where to start 🤦🏻♀️ The bar service was terrible.
We were told there were no other beers on draft than what was on the menu but later found this wasn’t true.
First time experience. Won't be back, won't take guests or suggest to go there. Picked up an order of nachos and a taco.

“Had the pork belly, pastor, carne asada and fish tacos.”
Had the pork belly, pastor, carne asada and fish tacos. They were all good but the best of the bunch was the pork belly. Also had a pitcher of Margaritas and Queso fundido, both we're good. The Watermelon cocktail was amazing, highly recommended 14 bucks for a glass of Margarita and tacos are $6.

“Super good tequila options for all my tequila fans.”
Super good tequila options for all my tequila fans. Tacos were pretty good and staff was super nice and attentive. Chips and salsa was solid, and just enough for two people.

“Had an excellent time here.”
Had an excellent time here! The host staff was super friendly, the wait staff was great, the tacos were very tasty (best pollo taco I’ve ever had). We also got the mango margarita pitcher and it was very good. 10/10 will be going again!

Have been a longtime fan of Big Star, especially their fish tacos. Had the chance to try their Panza tacos which actually are now going to be a regular order. The queso was delicious too. All in all, a reliably good place to go to in Chicago. On the slightly pricier side. Service is friendly and warm.

I've heard the original Wicker Park location is notoriously crowded so it was nice to see plenty of space available at this location on a Sunday morning. The Brunch menu is not terribly huge, but standard Tex-Mex breakfast favorites such as chilaquiles, steak and egg burritos, and breakfast tacos are available. I tried the Texas Ranger, which was a nice sized portion of eggs, sausage, spicy potatoes, frijoles, and charred jalapeno for only $10. Great cocktails too, the pina del cielo was an excellent blend of mezcal and a fermented pineapple juice that tasted like summer in a glass, perfect for a cold winter day.

“Thank you for another Big Star location.”
Thank you for another Big Star location! Pro-tip: if there is a long wait for a table, try to snag a seat at the bar, where they have the full menu. This location has the same great options as the Wicker Park location, but in twice the space. HUGE 2 level space with bars on both floors. They currently don’t have the steak taco available but will hopefully have it soon! Highly recommend any of the margaritas or any version of the fish tacos. The to-go window isn’t open yet, but should be soon!

Dare I say I like this location better than Wicker? 😱 SO big, TWO floors, TWO bars, and nearly everything that you love from the Wicker Park location. I was very impressed — had dinner only 2 weeks after their opening and had no issues. The al pastor and panza tacos are excellent. Don’t skip on the queso fundido. Can’t wait to be back in the summer for the open windows & patio!

“Huge new location with the same great tacos and margaritas.”
Huge new location with the same great tacos and margaritas! The 2nd level tables facing the stadium have a great view for game days. The plan to open a taco stand for late night runs. The patio isn't open yet and probably won't be ready by the 2018 Cubs season opener.

“Nachos were spectacular, tacos as well.”
Nachos were spectacular, tacos as well. Service was good. Just before a Cubs game, was not too crowded. $5 for a single 12oz can of Diet Coke is a little ridiculous but is what it is.
