Yuzu Sushi & Robata Grill
Yuzu Sushi & Robata Grill — among the best japanese in West Town. Classic neighborhood feel, nothing here chasing trends. Cocktails here aren't an afterthought, and BYOB. Kayleigh: "the sake nigiri was also fantastic - so fresh and it came perfectly glazed" [$$]

“The food is amazing! First time in Chicago have something like this. Really fresh and tasty. And really appreciated Bell for the recommendation and the dessert! The portions are very worth the prices.”

“we definitely over-ordered, but everything sounded so good. the highlights of our meal was the fatty salmon and ume bowl. the ume bowl had a nice variety of fish, and we loved that they give you a bunch of nori to make little hand rolls. the fish was really fresh and you get a pretty good chunk of fish in the rolls. even though we saw photos, we were a little taken back by how brightly colored the sauces were. they’re all mayo-based and we felt like the rolls were fine without them. service was good and the food came out relatively quick. just know that gratuity is already included in your bill which is disclosed on the menu”

“Hubby took me here for St Valentines day and at the beginning I thought this was not going to be a good idea because we didn't have reservations and all restaurants were full for the special day. We waited for like 30-40 min hoping some will no show, I am so glad we decided to wait cause it was worth it. I was very impress with the whole experience, from the waiter to the food our time there were whole new vibes.. Waiter was so funny and despite being super busy, he was very attentive and friendly. Now about the food, we ordered so many items and each were SOOOOO DELICIOUS from the beef short ribs & chicken satay Robata to their fabulous sushi, everything was perfect. They have a full bar so we ordered some mezcal drink and a St Valentines special drink waiter recommended and even those drinks were good. This was my first time visiting Yuzu but trust and believe it wont be the last... 1000/10 recommended this great family own restaurant.”

“WOW, what a delicious dinner!! I haven’t been here in 5-6+ years, but then I saw a picture of their moriawase sashimi set on their Instagram and immediately scheduled a dinner with my sushi-loving friend here. Initially my friend and I were each going to get our own set ($90 each), but the server recommended we share one set and also get the Ume bowl. Great suggestion! The Ume bowl had at least a dozen pieces of sashimi on top of a bed of amazingly seasoned sushi rice (server specifically pointed that out the rice was seasoned with soy already). Both the Mori set and Ume bowl were delicious, and we were pretty full. The owner came by to check on us and we complimented us on how great everything was. Later he brought us each a tasting portion of their new snow crab & scallop bowls. We also got their matcha creme brûlée, which had a really prominent matcha flavor (many matcha desserts are weakly flavored). I also tried a sip of my friend’s strawberry espresso martini, and I was surprised at how good it was (I’m not an espresso martini girl). I also really enjoyed their late 90s/early 2000s hip hop play list!! I can’t wait to come back for another mori sashimi set!”

“Great food and drinks and service. Not a fan of the congested seating style of modern small restaurants, but its worth the pain.”

“Unique Sushi flavors and combinations you can't get anywhere else. Their smoked fish and fried rolls are so good and each roll is a packed with fresh fish”
