“Mazd soba udon is definitely a must-try, which has a unique yet authentic flavor.”
Mazd soba udon is definitely a must-try, which has a unique yet authentic flavor. Overall, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the food exceeded my expectations. As a Korean visiting Chicago, I was really glad to find such authentic Korean-Japanese cuisine here.

Went in for the lunch menu, and I must say for the price and quality, it cannot be beat! The chicken karage was so crispy and juicy, the sushi was incredibly fresh and the udon and beef bowl were hearty and reminded me of Japan. Don’t forget this place for lunch! As well as dinner. 😋❤️

“One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago.”
One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. The service is great and the food is always delicious. I’ve eaten a lot of sushi in the Chicagoland area, and I can confidently say Tengoku Aburiya is the best I’ve tried. The fish is so good, I wouldn’t be surprised if they use the same as their sister restaurant, Omakase Yume. I would be hard pressed not to mention the skewers as well. The way the grill adds to the flavors reminds me of backyard cookouts in the summertime. They serve as a beautiful accompaniment to their maze soba dish. Unlike any flavors I’ve ever had when I first tried it. Now I can’t have enough. Try this place out.

“loved the cozy atmosphere of this place.”
loved the cozy atmosphere of this place. went with a friend on a saturday night (with a reservation) and they told us service would be slow because they were understaffed - it was not slow at all we tried: • lychee please cocktail • toro tartare • chicken karaage • shio pork belly • tako nuta • takoyaki • hamachi nigiri • sake nigiri toro tartare and shio pork belly were definitely the stars. toro tartare was delicious, and it had a perfectly soft & buttery texture. shio pork belly was juicy and flavorful with a tasty sauce drizzled on it the chicken karaage and nigiri pieces were dishes that i could tell were quality, but not necessarily for me. the ginger flavor in the chicken karaage was too strong for my liking, and the nigiri pieces had strong wasabi flavor, which i don’t personally like overall a very pleasant dining experience that i would definitely recommend

I shared these photos with my friends in Tokyo, and they thought I was back in Japan again, not in Chicago. The taste lived up to expectations, the sukiyaki, yakitori, and nigiri were outstanding.

“the Toro Tartare had a beautiul buttery texture and the spicy tuna crispy rice was delicious, good...”
the Toro Tartare had a beautiul buttery texture and the spicy tuna crispy rice was delicious, good ratio of unagi sauce and tuna for crispy rice with the avocado adding another layer of creaminess. My favorite dish that I tried was the chirashidon. It was loaded with a variety of sashimi and each one was fresh and my favorite in that bowl was the octopus. it was mildy chewy and had a light taste compared to the rest of the fish. We then proceeded with their Yakiniku service where you get to grill your chosen proteins and indulge in them with lettuce wraps, Mul-kimchi and sauces like the ssamjang and sesame oil. We tried the pork belly, the tiger shrimp, and the wagyu. the Wagyu was great on its own, but also went well with the ssamjan in a lettuce wrap and cucumber. We really liked the fish and quality here so we ended up getting even more sushi.

“I went alone, but did not feel alone at all.”
I went alone, but did not feel alone at all! The staff was so nice, giving me space but also engaging in conversation, perfect balance. Sitting on the bar, they "extended" the happy hour deal for me, so I can enjoy lower prices on some of the items I ordered. I took the chef's premium nigiri, and it really blew my mind with a modern/ interesting touch to each piece, yet still respecting the traditional nigiri. I loved it.

I sat at the bar and ordered the premium nigiri set and chef Danny turned it into an omakase experience. The nigiris were absolutely amazing and one of the best I had. I also recommend the beef tongue skewer. I will be back to try out more dishes and chef Danny’s omakase. Highly recommend.

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at TenGoku Aburiya.”
I recently had the pleasure of dining at TenGoku Aburiya. Specializing in Japanese cuisine. The chicken skin yakitori was grilled to a crispy texture, pretty tasty, The salmon sashimi was really fresh and beautifully presented. Each slice of salmon was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a delicate, buttery flavor that showcased the high quality of the fish. Paired with the right amount of soy sauce and wasabi, it was an absolute delight. The ambiance was cozy with a subtle elegance that enhances the dining experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Japanese cuisine. The variety of the menu will allow you to find what you crave.
