“🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Craving Italian? This is *THE* place, honey.”
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Craving Italian? This is *THE* place, honey! I was on the hunt for authentic Italian, like, real-deal, nonna-approved Italian—and stumbled upon Macello Cucina di Puglia in West Fulton. We walked in without a reservation (wild, I know), and the universe blessed us with two open seats. Manifestation? Maybe. Destiny? Absolutely! We kicked things off with the Macello salad topped with prosciutto—a salty, savory dream. But the star of the show? The Laganelle Tartafutta. Whew! If you love truffle, prepare to be spiritually reborn. Truffle oil, truffle mushrooms, truffle herbs—it was basically a love letter to truffle, and the pasta? Al dente perfection, just the way I like it! Then, plot twist: we somehow ended up bonding with the bartender (don’t ask how, just vibes), and yes, tequila shots happened.....with limes, of course. To top it all off, we were introduced to The Owner and The Chef, and then surprised with a secret, off-menu dessert made by their pastry chef. Like, excuse me?? VIP treatment out of nowhere? I'm literally Obsessed! Macello isn’t just a meal—it’s a whole experience! Chic, warm, authentically Italian, and effortlessly fabulous. If you’re in Chicago and craving something real, rich, and ridiculously good, this is where your taste buds *need* to be. 💋

“If you're searching for the best Pugliese cuisine in Chicago, look no further than Macello Cucina di Puglia.”
If you're searching for the best Pugliese cuisine in Chicago, look no further than Macello Cucina di Puglia. Opened for over 18 years, this gem continues to serve exceptional dishes that transport you straight to the heart of southern Italy. From the moment you step through the door, you're not just walking into a restaurant — you're entering a warm, inviting atmosphere where each meal tells a story of passion, tradition, and culinary artistry, their staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, Kristian the bartender, Alex the server made my night even better. I had the pleasure of visiting last Thursday, and not only was the food absolutely divine, but the experience was elevated with live Italian band music, filling the space with nostalgic Frank Sinatra oldies. It truly set the perfect mood for an unforgettable night. Now, let’s talk about the food. Where do I even begin? The must dish to try is their Fired Calamary, mamma mia outstanding, the Seafood Grigliata was an absolute masterpiece, perfectly grilled and bursting with fresh, briny flavor that had me savoring every bite. The Molese Pizza with Tuna was equally spectacular, offering a unique twist on a classic, with the tuna bringing a delightful richness that balanced beautifully with the crisp crust. For a heartwarming, indulgent dish, the Tartuffata was a showstopper — a rich, truffle-infused treat that felt like pure luxury in every bite. The Lamb Chop Casserole was another highlight, tender and full of flavor, with a deep, savory sauce that paired beautifully with the perfectly cooked lamb. I also couldn’t resist the Farro ai Frutti di Mare, a beautifully balanced grain dish paired with the freshest seafood. The Cavatelli al Forno was another standout, a comforting pasta dish that showcased the kitchen's skill in creating dishes with deep, nuanced flavors. And, of course, no meal at Macello is complete without dessert. The Croccantino was a sweet and crunchy delight, but it was the dreamy Tiramisu that truly stole the show — light, airy, and perfectly balanced - it was the perfect end to an incredible meal. If you’re in Chicago, Macello Cucina di Puglia is a must-visit. The exceptional food, warm ambiance, and lively entertainment create an experience that will have you coming back time and time again. Highly recommend it!

“The best way to enjoy your dinner here is to bring a large group of close friends or family with you.”
The best way to enjoy your dinner here is to bring a large group of close friends or family with you. The reason behind is SHEARING the dishes. I was not able to limit my self with only one entrée. Mouth watering menu filled with tons of possibilities varying from traditional southern Italian vegetable pastas, fish dishes and mushroom risottos. If you like beef and truffles Joe has something for you as well. The master behind the scenes Joe bring traditional Barese recopies here (Yes, just Joe) have mentioned – rapini/rape have some bitterness (less the arugula of course) if you are not familiar with the dish, you may be surprised. I was able to taste about 8 different dishes, appetizers and 4 deserts that evening – thanks to my big Italian family that like to shear. Love in every bite – Barese style. Hi, Renee and Romero! Oh, there is one desert I have newer try before – something with mascarpone (chilled/frozen!?) do not remember the name – divine.

“Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday.”
Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We had so much fun and the food was great. The server was awesome. He provided his suggestions as well as good wine to pair the food with. I got the beef pasta which was delicious, my friend got a seafood pasta which was to die for and my sister got the Americano pizza which was decadent. Parking was hard so we opted to valet for $15. I will for sure come back.
