void — high-caliber food in Avondale. Order the Fried Chicken. It gets busy, and that's part of the appeal.

“Fun restaurant with good atmosphere.”
Fun restaurant with good atmosphere. Friendly, accommodating staff. The zero-proof Malort cocktail was excellent! The agnolotti del lungo was amazing. Personally, the highlight was bringing home a couple bottles of No-Lort; the reason I had been looking forward to coming to Chicago for a while!

“Wow is the first thing I'll say.”
Wow is the first thing I'll say. We loved void's take on unexpected/updated Italian food. We particularly loved the focaccia, agnolotti, spaghetti uh ohs, steak, and fried chicken marsala. We can't wait to go back! 1000/10. Go, you won't regret it!

“VOID is an excellent restaurant for those who like to be adventurous with their eating.”
VOID is an excellent restaurant for those who like to be adventurous with their eating. The chef is known to take everyday cuisine and add modify it in unique and fun ways. For example, hubby ordered the Spaghetti O's. His very homemade and decadent pasta dish was served in a can! The waitstaff then artfully displays it in a bowl and assembles it with extra cheese, etc. I had the Chicken Marsala. It was served in a take-out bag with a small container of ranch dressing on the side. There were six very large pieces included. Enough to share. Also were mushroom truffle covered veggies. Another member of our group ordered the vegetable lasagna. She gave it a rousing two thumbs up. Lastly, the polenta was also a hit! The cocktail menu is unique and very fun! I had a lovely cup of fresh brewed coffee and it was robust and worth a second cup! Desserts are shareable after the big dishes served for dinner. The waitstaff was exceptional and made sure we were well cared for and didn't need anything. VOID was amazing. However, if your palette is for only traditional fare - this may not be the place for you. (Or be adventurous and try it out!). VOID is a rather small venue. No children were present when we were there. It is accessible for people in a wheelchair.

“I finally got to come here for my birthday after wanting to for a really long time.”
I finally got to come here for my birthday after wanting to for a really long time. The ambiance is dark and moody, but not in a pretentious way. The cocktails were delicious and the beer was refreshing. I specifically wanted the Spaghetti Uh-O's and they were even better than I expected. The Beets and Focaccia were amazing as well! Finally, the service was friendly and quick. I will definitely be back soon!

“Started with a wonderful focaccia with fermented garlic honey spread.”
Started with a wonderful focaccia with fermented garlic honey spread. Loved the novelty of their own Spaghetti Oh-ohs and custom can label. I had the eggplant lasagna which was as tasty as it was the perfect portion. The "familiar" and "unfamiliar" cocktail selection was created with intention and of which we ordered several from the latter. The PB&J sorbet dessert was incredible.

“I came here to celebrate my birthday.”
I came here to celebrate my birthday. Santiago was such a delight. Both the chef and hostess were nice as well! The food was incredible, I had the focaccia with whipped ricotta and the wedge to start. Both were so incredibly flavorful that I couldn't believe it! I had the lasagna for my entree and cannoli cake for desert. I would highly recommend this place!

Loved the vibes and decor, very cozy spot with fun and delicious foods. Highly recommend the Spaghetti uhohs! Their homemade meatballs were literally melt in your mouth delicious, and don't leave without a nice digestivo, their daiquiris were amazing

“void was a great experience.”
void was a great experience. The vibes from the get-go were immaculate. The weight staff and service were very attentive and helped navigate the menu when selecting food and beverage choices. If you’re looking for a low-key dinner in a great neighborhood and already to exercise your taste buds I highly recommend stopping in. The SpaghettiOs were a hit and you have to get dessert who would’ve thought blueberry sorbet, vanilla ice cream, and toffee would make such magic . Highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be back .

“Last night I finally got to Void, on Milwaukee Ave.”
Last night I finally got to Void, on Milwaukee Ave. Immediately after entering the vibe was so unique, and welcoming, from our delightful server Joy with a wonderful dry southern charm, to the comfy dining areas. First up we tried the Focaccia with Black Truffle Salami, which was such an elegant appetizer, served with apricot jam and honey garlic butter, with no overpowering flavors, and not too heavy. Next we had three entrees, one being the famous Spaghetti Uh-Ohs, which was tasty specifically the meatballs, rich in flavor, served from a can to highlight the gag, which was fun! Next we had Fried Chicken Marsala. Which was quite possibly the best fried chicken I have ever had. Served with a homemade creamy Italian dressing if you want a little added smooth creamy flavor. The rich crispy salty sweet crust from the fried exterior, mixed with the tender soft rich chicken flavor, paired so perfectly with the creamy Italian, it was a divine flavor sensation. Plus one of my favorite presentations "From the Bag" as it were, to boot!! Last we tried the Eggplant Parm, which was also spectacular. The Eggplant was so rich in flavor it tasted as if I'm it were an Impossible patty almost, with the perfect mozzarella crust, and a very crisp exterior to bite into the smooth easily bitable interior, crossed so perfectly with the sweet red sauce, and the light Parmasan flaking on the outside, a near perfect Eggplant Parmesan execution. I highly recommend Void, a delightful establishment, with great personality, and wonderfully executed dishes, served with a smile and presented whimsically! Instagram: @FritznFood

“Loved this restaurant.”
Loved this restaurant! Super moody, quaint restaurant with a vintage vibe. Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Overall great experience. Went with 4 people and shared food. We got the focaccia, carrots, shrimp toast, fried chicken marsala, spaghettios, eggplant parm. We got the PBJ sundae and olive oil cake for dessert. I think it was too much food, probably should have done just 4 dishes. I would order again the spaghettios, shrimp toast and eggplant parm most definitely. The shrimp toast was unexpectedly amazing. The sundae was the clear dessert favorite.

“We dined at void tonight, a whimsical interpretation of Italian that reminded me of the Childhood menu at Next.”
We dined at void tonight, a whimsical interpretation of Italian that reminded me of the Childhood menu at Next. I couldn’t help but be charmed. Before we went, I didn’t want to like it. I didn’t plan to like it, because the name of the restaurant is unappealing to me and I looked over the menu online and nothing struck my fancy, but once our first course, Shrimp Scampi Toast, hit the table and I realized it was a riff on Chinese-American shrimp toast that was brilliantly executed and topped with perfectly cooked prawns and scampi butter, I was smitten. I don’t know how the shrimp mousseline gets into the center of the bread or how the bread heals around it to obscure the tampering, but it sure is a fun texture and it’s delicious. Then the most popular dish arrived, Spaghetti-Uh-O’s, a fictional brand satirizing the iconic canned mush from childhood, except this version is al dente, rich, and contains little meatballs any nonna would be proud of. Another fun dish is the Chicken Marsala, which is actually Korean fried chicken drenched in maitake marsala served in a paper bag with a little squeeze bottle of buttermilk dressing. We also enjoyed branzino, a menu item seemingly without a gimmick, which was cooked to perfection and plated beautifully with a crisp salad of fennel, frisée, and Frenched green beans. Service was exceptional, and the wine list featured a wine we’ve been meaning to try (Occhipinti SP68 Sicilia Rosso IGT 2020 Frappato – Nero d’Avola, Sicily) since we caught the purveyor’s guest spot on Stanley Tucci’s show about Italy. The only misstep is that the Handkerchief Pasta came out not at all warm, but it was delicious in spite of being served at room temperature. void Avondale 2937 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago
