I went in here with my service dog and was immediately told they do not allow dogs.

Quirky shop has been a staple for gifts forever, and for good reason. Well curated, mostly accessories, jewelry, some clothes, all of it cheeky and reasonably priced. If you could use some disco sun glasses and socks that instruct others to F off, this is your place. Staff is great. Fyi they close in late winter for a couple months.

Horrible place with horrible owner. As a disabled person with a service animal I was turned away. I expressed to the sales person that my 6lb dog strapped to my chest was trained as a service animal for my disability.. she insisted on getting the owner. I told the owner that my dog was a service animal and she said, she didn't believe in pet ownership. She that my entering her store violated her rights and beliefs.

I have been going to this store for 30 years. The prices and accessories are still fantastic! I love living down the street from this gem. The people who work here are great too. And the clothing is always up to date and in fashion. Giving this place a 1 star review because you don’t understand the name - is cruel. This is a home owned local business trying to survive in this crazy world of mega stores and websites. From what I understand the original owner used to go down to Mexico and bring back good to sell here in Evanston. Hence, the name. They may get their items from different places these days- but they are still great quality! Ladies- Go shop here! You will not be disappointed.

I can't believe that anyone has complained about the service here. The women were amazing and so enthusiastic. When they heard I was from out of town, they wrote a list of restaurants to try in Chicago. I followed their advice and went to the bar atop the Athletic Club and ate at Ema Restaurant. In addition to lovely wares, they are lovely people!

This place is gorgeous on the inside with tons of personality. The staff was beyond helpful and very considerate! I wear a hijab and before I could even ask while trying on necklaces, i was asked if i wanted to try it on in a changing room and once i declined they let me know they checked and there was no mention of within the store before I could even remember to point it out! 100% would come back, they put a lot of care into their products and gifts, you can tell they love what they do.

The Mexican Shop is my absolute *favorite* store in the world! I've been going there since I was a kid in the 80's. It's definitely a "one of a kind" boutique- (no online shopping) & all of the store receipts are handwritten. I LOVE all of their inventory, which is updated regularly. Mexican Shop has a wide variety of gorgeous jewelry, unique clothes, bags/purses, sunglasses, eclectic housewares & fun trinkets. Definitely check it out! 🤩

Amazing prices, customer service, and one of my favorite places to shop for gifts. The jewelry pieces are so unique and affordable and everything is great quality. I also buy nose rings here and body jewelry and it’s great quality as well.

The Mexican shop is one of my favorite stores of all time. I always go here to buy friends gifts and get myself cute jewelry. The staff is super friendly and the prices are very fair. The items in the store are cute but also unique which I appreciate. Love this store and am so sad it’s closed until summer right now!
