“The borscht is a symphony of deep ruby hues, tender beets, and savory broth topped with a swirl of creamy smetana, while the varenyky—plump dumplings filled with potato, cheese, or cherries—melt in your mouth with buttery perfection, and the deruny potato pancakes are crisped to golden bliss alongside earthy mushrooms and dill”

One of the best meals I’ve had in Chicago! Every bite tasted lovingly made. It felt like being in someone’s home. Can’t wait until I can make it back to Chicago for another meal here!

Very good. About $22/person for the buffet. Nice variety and everything is tasty and fresh. They take card and cash. There was about a 30 minute delay in opening the restaurant, so it was about 11:30, but the delicious food and cultural experience was well worth it.

Feels just like home! 🏠 Old Lviv is a cozy spot with true Ukrainian hospitality and amazing food. Everything tastes authentic – the borscht is rich, the varenyky are tender, the meat dishes are juicy, and the desserts bring back childhood memories. Felt like I'd returned home for winter holidays; mom had cooked ahead of my arrival, and I was savoring a familiar meal that I'd enjoyed since childhood. Except I'm Chinese so this was quite new to me, really, but at least that's how I felt eating here.

Wow! The food was so delicious. I'm from out of town & I was on my way to eat somewhere else during lunch break, when I saw this place. The woman who was working there was very nice and helpful, explaining the food to me. The atmosphere is so cozy and peaceful with nice relaxing music. The flavors are so well done. Seems like they have a lot of time and experience invested into these recipes. I was unfamiliar with many of the foods available, but I picked a few things out (cafe/buffet style) and loved all of it. The woman there also asked me if I wanted soup, and I got some sort of red soup which was excellent. The desserts were just as delicious as the food. Thank you. There's something special about this place that I will not forget. 🌞

“Best Ukrainian food I've found east of Minnesota and south of Manitoba.”
Best Ukrainian food I've found east of Minnesota and south of Manitoba. Look -- no one makes the classics like your grandmother -- but Old Lviv serves solid basic Ukrainian classics that will definitely remind you of home. If new to Ukrainian food, this is a great place to try (try the buffet with a side of varenyky). The prices are also good -- focus is on the food in a straight forward cafe setting -- and the service is spot on. Thanks guys for a happy lunch memory 😊 👍

“This family-owned Ukrainian restaurant in Chicago has quickly become a favorite of mine.”
This family-owned Ukrainian restaurant in Chicago has quickly become a favorite of mine. From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The owners are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to ensure every guest feels welcome. The menu features a wide variety of traditional Ukrainian dishes, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I was particularly impressed with how flavorful and healthy the food was – it's the perfect spot for those seeking a delicious and nutritious meal. The relaxed ambiance makes it an ideal place for families or anyone looking to unwind after a long day. And with its reasonable prices, you get exceptional value for your money. Be sure to try their Ukrainian lager – it's the perfect complement to any meal. Overall, this restaurant is a true hidden gem in Chicago and a must-try for anyone looking to experience authentic Ukrainian cuisine in a cozy setting.
