Mirra — well-regarded food in Bucktown. Good energy here, especially on weekends. Worth ordering a drink, because the bar holds its own. Brandon M: "The Roasted Beets were my favorite, bright crispy beets perfectly seasoned with a smoky dip overflowing"

“SHERRY and her team do an excellent job ensuring every detail is taken care of.”
SHERRY and her team do an excellent job ensuring every detail is taken care of. The service is impeccable, and the team under her leadership moves with true harmony and ease. CARNE APACHE was my favorite of the night -bold, and incredibly addicting, with just enough heat to keep you coming back for another bite. CHARRED CAULIFLOWER SALAD is hands-down the best cauliflower salad I've ever had. The layers of texture make every bite interesting, from smoky char to crisp and creamy elements. LAMB BARBACOA BIRYANI is beautifully presented — rich, aromatic, and deeply comforting, with flavors that unfold as you eat. TRES LECHES is a must-order. The mango pairing is spot on. I didn't think I could eat another bite, but somehow the plate was completely clean.

“I met some friends here for brunch and was blown away by the menu and different flavors.”
I met some friends here for brunch and was blown away by the menu and different flavors. The coffee had an orange flavor that was a delicious treat. I also got the Huevos Rancheros Lababdar which is presented similar to a shakshuka dish. Sooo good and had a spicy kick. The table also shared an order of the french toast - it was easily shareable with more unexpected and delicious flavors. Our server was super friendly, on point, and took great care of us. Highly recommend, would love to go back!

“Delicious with interesting twists on fairly common foods.”
Delicious with interesting twists on fairly common foods. For small plates, the roasted beets, scallops and aguachile were all well-plated and full of flavor and fantastic sauces. Even the mezze was impressive its presentation - an assorted house-made, gorgeous fan of crackers - and collection of salsas & guac. For mains, the octopus did not disappoint. Its texture was a bit unexpected - denser or a bit more substantial than usual? - but not unwelcome and it worked so well on top of the creamy coconut rice, which was fabulous itself. Our server, Emma, was attentive and knowledgeable with excellent suggestions, and I wish they offered bottomless guava margaritas because those were perfection. Overall, definitely worth a visit!

“Mirra is the kind of place that makes you feel cool just for sitting down.”
Mirra is the kind of place that makes you feel cool just for sitting down. The atmosphere is eclectic in the best way, like your favorite playlist finally came to life as a restaurant. The menu follows suit with bold, thoughtful dishes that feel playful but very intentional. The service absolutely seals the deal. Eddie was top notch, perfectly attentive without hovering, genuinely fun, and clearly someone who wants you to have a great night. The kind of service that makes you trust every recommendation without hesitation. Order the crispy tacos. Just do it. They are dangerously good and may cause table side jealousy. The bone marrow is also a must and somehow rich, comforting, and exciting all at once. It is the dish you keep thinking about the next day and possibly the day after that. Mirra manages to be both impressive and relaxed, which is a rare trick. Come hungry, come curious, and come ready to add this place to your repeat list. Highly recommend.

“Who knew Mexican and Indian flavors marry so well? Mirra was a true delight from start to finish...”
Who knew Mexican and Indian flavors marry so well? Mirra was a true delight from start to finish and each dish was bursting with flavor. Our delightful server guided us well and two of us shared two smaller and two larger plates. We started with two newer items on their menu: the Mirra Salad (perfectly dressed with a mildly spicy lime dressing and crispy lentil noodles) and Baked Paneer (generous portion served with tortillas, a delectable garlic sauce, salsa macha, and another refreshing salsa) The Pollo Rostizado was super moist with a beautifully seasoned skin, only to be followed with the Lamb Barbacoa Biryani that almost looked too photogenic to eat. We had no room for dessert so we’ll have to come back again! If Mirra is on your radar, don’t hesitate! They’re doing everything right.

“Last night’s celebration at Mirra exceeded all expectations — a vibrant, celebratory meal that felt...”
Last night’s celebration at Mirra exceeded all expectations — a vibrant, celebratory meal that felt tailored to the occasion yet effortlessly elevated. From the moment we walked in for my birthday dinner, the team set a tone that was warm, celebratory and full of culinary adventure. Mirra’s blend of Mexican and Indian cuisine is a theme reviewers often highlight — for instance, The Infatuation mentions that “the Mexican-Indian fusion was phenomenal… you’ll be trying to decipher the combination of Mexican and Indian flavours days later.” In our case, that fusion delivered in spades. We started with the aguachile and salmon-mango ceviche — both fresh, bright, and with an undercurrent of spice that made each bite lively without overwhelming. The pasdam dip platter (you might mean “papadam” or a similar dish) offered a communal, celebratory feel and served as a perfect prelude. The lamb asada tacos were bold but refined: smoky, richly seasoned, each taco a compact story of Mirra’s dual culinary identity. And the lamb biryani barbacoa was a standout — fragrant, hearty, and beautifully executed: richness and comfort with an edge. To top it all off, the tres leches olive oil cake was phenomenal — moist, delicately sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. Truly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Service throughout the evening matched the food in its quality. The staff were attentive, friendly, and added an extra layer of thoughtfulness by allowing us to relax and enjoy the moment. The ambiance felt right for a birthday outing: festive but not raucous, lively but comfortable. What stood out most: Mirra knows how to balance ambition with enjoyment. The menu is bold in concept (two rich culinary traditions merging) yet the execution makes it accessible, even joyful. For my birthday dinner, Mirra didn’t just deliver a meal — it delivered a memorable experience. If I were to highlight a few things for someone reading this: Go with friends or for a celebration: The shared-dish approach and the bold flavours make it ideal for groups or a special occasion. Be open to the fusion: The flavour combinations may be unexpected, but that’s the point — allow each dish to surprise you. Let the evening unfold: Don’t rush through. The experience is best appreciated at a comfortable pace. In summary: a spectacular birthday dinner at Mirra — from flavourful starters to indulgent mains, supported by thoughtful service and ambiance. If you’re looking for something that feels special and different — but still deeply satisfying — Mirra is absolutely worth it.

“Overall, outstanding food and drinks and would go back again and again.”
Overall, outstanding food and drinks and would go back again and again. The aguachile, tacos arabe, and whole fish (red snapper) were the highlights, but everything was good. The aguachile had the perfect amount of heat and the buttermilk sauce (?) paired well perfectly with it. The only knock on the tacos arabe is that I wanted more of them as that was probably the best bite of the meal. The cauliflower was also outstanding and I want them to do the crispy taco with something besides scallops as I prefer other raw seafood over scallops. We will be going back with a group so we can get the biryani as we saw quite a few of these being ordered and it looked great.

“What an exceptional experience.”
What an exceptional experience. This is a restaurant that keeps Chicago food scene in the news. Up for a Michelin review the food is something you wouldn’t get anywhere else. Fusion between Mexican and Indian flavors are spot on and very unique and delicious. This Chef deserves a star. There was nothing we ordered on the Menu that we didn’t savor. Must order their cocktails as well that are unique and compliment the food tremendously. I can see this restaurant climb up into the headlines …
