“Daruma is a solid choice for authentic Japanese food in the Chicago suburbs. The experience is simple and focused on the food. They offer a wide range of dishes and drinks, including Japanese alcoholic drinks and vegetarian options. We recommend trying the Japanese-style spaghetti for a different take on pasta. The udon soup stood out the most for me. Adding a bit of chili enhances the flavor nicely. Both the udon and the spaghetti were memorable. There are also several sushi options, and the fried and pickled vegetables are worth trying. Also noteworthy, seafood dishes are tasty and overall ingredients are of high quality. The restaurant has standard seating as well as Japanese-style tables, plus a bar area. It is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, and it is a good option for families. Overall, Daruma is a good place for well-prepared Japanese food in a relaxed setting, staff are very friendly!!”

“Came here for a friends birthday dinner and was blown away by the private dining room experience. We had such a memorable time and the service was on point, shout out to our server Kuni! (Hope I spelled that right). The food was terrific from the fresh sushi to the curry dish. The spaghetti was a fave in our group that we ended up ordering an additional serving! Needless to say I can’t wait to come back and experience a little slice of Japan again 🙏🙏 thank you!!”

The sushi, ramen, udon, anything that is on the menu is going to be prepared with the kind of care you would expect to get in Japan. There’s a reason why pilots from Japan come here to eat the food. “We went here after watching a TikTok video. Definitely highly recommend this place!! We went durning lunch time. We got the Nabeyaki Udons, Tonkatsu lunch, and Chicken Katsu Curry. We also got a sushi roll which is not pictured. The sushi was super fresh! The katsu was super delicious, crispy on the outside and super moist and tender on the inside. The udon the noddles was super chewy and not over cooked. Highly recommend getting the spaghetti here it has a sweet taste to it but a wok and umami flavor! I still think about the spaghetti til this day! There is all also private dining room that make you think of japan!! I highly recommend this place if you are ever in town!!”
“Really authentic Japanese restaurant!! With great ambiance, very friendly service and amazing dishes! We went as group of 3 and def ordered more than what we need! Really cute Japanese decorations and very authentic setting with tatami room available for an extra charge. We ordered monkfish liver (today’s special), beef tataki and fried chicken wing (today’s special) for appetizers and all are just so delicious! For entrees, we got tonkatsu, udon, and to tonkatsu ramen. All came with amazing seasoning and generous portions. Highly recommend the tonkatsu set. It came with a gigantic piece of fried pork, potato salad, cabbage salad, miso soup and rice. Simply so satisfying. Worth the one hour drive!”

“I visited here on a certain day in August 2025. It was at 11:25 am. They were already open. My wife ordered a "KAKI FRY LUNCH". And I ordered a "TONKATSU LUNCH" "TONKATSU" was very huge ! and juicy. The tomato spaghetti served alongside the "TONKATSU" was also good. They were very kind and explained about the foods politely.”
“So fortunate to have Daruma in Schaumburg. Everything on the menu looks delicious. We had the tempura appetizer, consisting of shrimp and a variety of vegetables, which were perfectly fried with a light covering of batter. I love tempura when it’s lightly coated verses a heavy batter - theirs was perfect. For dinner, we ordered the Daruma Don, a bowl of sushi rice topped with tuna and salmon sashimi was fantastic. Highly recommend Daruma for an authentic and delicious Japanese meal.”
“A hidden gem! Daruma is fast, fresh, and generous with portions. I got the Daruma Bowl, which came loaded with three salmon sashimi, two yellowtail, three tuna sashimi, 🍣 plus a mountain of sushi rice, pickled ginger, and miso soup - all for a great price! My friend’s lunch special 🍱 looked just as amazing. Bonus tip! You’re served hot tea 🍵 as soon as you sit down. Highly recommend, it’s delicious!!!”
