My Place South Loop Restaurant — chinese in South Loop. Traditional preparation with honest flavors. BYOB. Tia McCargish: "The meat was tender, the vegetables were stir fried but still had a bit of that fresh crunch I love"

“Honestly, anything with the yellow star (chef’s special) would be good but a few of my top favorites include the hand pulled chicken, lobster with ginger, oxtail w/bean curd, salt & pepper Japanese tofu”
I’m begging you, chief—hand on your heart—tell me the truth: how did you make Gongbaojiding like this. Just… why. WHY.
Haven't been to my place since they moved from Chicago Chinatown to Wabash and don't think I will visit again.
I eat this cleaning dishes steel wool with beef fried rice.

“The place to go to for smoothies, drinks, & all things Chinese food.”
The place to go to for smoothies, drinks, & all things Chinese food! I violently crave the chicken in chili sauce and it’s only $10!! I also recently had their Hong Kong French toast for the first time and it was life changing. It’s served with condensed milk but next time I may also need to bring some maple syrup haha. If you want to try something new and refreshing, get the red bean grass jelly coconut freeze with less sugar!

“They are BYOB, which is cool.”
They are BYOB, which is cool. Food was really good. We got sizzling beef, orange chicken, broccoli chicken, crab ragoon, and pot stickers. Broccoli chicken was pretty good. Everything else was fantastic. Great portions. Their box meals are very good bang for your buck.

“Great Cantonese food.”
Great Cantonese food. This place is BYOB. Prices are reasonable. The green beans are delicious- spicy and tender. The sizzling chicken in black pepper sauce is excellent (chicken is tender and succulent). Try the shrimp and scallop in spicy garlic sauce.

“If you're looking for tasty authentic Cantonese food, this is the place.”
If you're looking for tasty authentic Cantonese food, this is the place. We had dinner here. Ordered Beijing Style Pork Chops, stir fry clams, hand shredded chicken, salt pepper smelt fish and other dishes. Had to say they were all fantastic and priced reasonably. Like other Chinese restaurants, don't expect service to be excellent. Every time we asked for something, our waiter took care of it right away, but you have to ask.

“Very reasonablly priced Cantonese style authentic Chinese food.”
Very reasonablly priced Cantonese style authentic Chinese food. I ordered the Portuguese chicken, somewhat disappointed with only a few pieces of chicken deep fried in heavy breading.. The morning/lunch special is a great deal, come with small drink and sides. Other parties' choices are better than mine and seem to taste good.. Oxtail casserole is nice too.

“Wanted something delicious with a street food vibe, my place came to my mind.”
Wanted something delicious with a street food vibe, my place came to my mind. It’s spacious and not loud while dining in. I love how they have the patio area for 3 seasons. Food quality and price wise for my place, I’d give it a 10/10. The crispy chow mein that I ordered comes with a hot drink, and a bowl of congee. I was so full after, and still, I couldn’t finish everything. For all that it was less than $10 during lunch time. My place definitely deserves more recognition.

“Very authentic Cantonese restaurant.”
Very authentic Cantonese restaurant! I love their Portuguese chicken over rice, satay beef noodle soup, salt and pepper chicken wings, and congee. Their lunch menu and afternoon menu have very good prices ($9 for meal and a drink). Their milk tea is incredible. Highly recommend.
