“I think this is the best Shanghainese food in Chicago for sure, and we'll for sure be back”
Was excited to see this open in the neighborhood, and had been waiting to try the food.
I’ve been waiting to try this place and came in at 8:30 on a Wednesday (Kitchen closes at 9 place closes at 9:30) and was told only take out is available.
Oooof. It really stinks that I have to write this but we came in at 8:34 and were told take away only.

“Few days ago, I went in this restaurant after a long walk.”
Few days ago, I went in this restaurant after a long walk. When entering, the two servers were very friendly and welcoming. They offered unlimited warm tea in this cold weather which I love. Also, the dishes we ordered were delicious and the portions are great. Would love to go back again.

“Everyone was very friendly upon coming in and even upon leaving.”
Everyone was very friendly upon coming in and even upon leaving. The staff even offered to pack our food for us which I appreciate as someone who finds it difficult to get into take out boxes haha. We ordered the Xiao long bao to start, then the fish soup, Japanese tofu with enoki, and braised pork. Everything was really good (especially the Japanese tofu, which was mine and my partners favourite of all the dishes). I think this is the best Shanghainese food in Chicago for sure, and we'll for sure be back!!

Had a great meal at La Mom Kitchen. Very authentic flavors and menu items. Friendly staff that also explained some of the dishes to our group. They are also BYOB.

As of 12/24/25, restaurant is about two weeks old. The restaurant was clean (nothing “special”) the service was friendly and helpful with menu selections/recommendations, and the food was packed with flavor, putting a fun and delicious spin on classic dishes. Highly recommend. The pictures below goes as follows: -Spicy Dumplings -Spicy Eggplant -Shrimp Lo Mei
