Golden House Restaurant on N. Racine Ave in Uptown Chicago is a true neighborhood gem. The location is perfect, right next to the Riviera Theatre. The food is excellent and the service is always outstanding. I’ve been visiting this place for over 30 years, and it’s always delivered the same great, old-school service every time. Highly recommended.

“The absolute best pancakes in Chicago.”

The absolute best pancakes in Chicago! These pancakes taste so natural and homemade. Almost like as if your own mother made you breakfast in the morning, that’s I how I always feel when eating here. Your traditional breakfast in the morning with some honey golden glaze pancakes. Some fresh scrambled or over easy eggs as complement. Then a well seasoned steak to finish it off. Everything is very affordable as well! The prices will have you shocked because that hoe it had me. The owners are all very kind and welcoming. A very classic diner to have some great breakfast before a day of work. I highly recommended!

“Solid old school vintage diner.”

Solid old school vintage diner. When you walk in you are taken back to the 80s. In a city full overpriced and overdone breakfast fare it is nice to be able to go to a vintage neighborhood staple for a delicious diner style breakfast or lunch. I had the Belgian waffle with a scoop of ice cream.

This is a great neighborhood spot. Flavorful food that is affordable and comes out quick. The “country breakfast” is my go-to breakfast dish with a side of coffee. This place just feels right, especially for breakfast.

When it comes to breakfast I always get over medium eggs with sausage and hash browns. What matters to me is flavorful sausage and soft golden potatoes, this place got it right. A little pricey but I would come back. Maybe it’s because I ordered a slice of cheese on it with a side of tomato

Visited this place on a Sunday for lunch, and we got a table for 5 immediately. I ordered the Mexican omelette and some Sanka coffee. Food was delicious and affordable and the service was very prompt. Will definitely return!

Classic old school, cash only dinner. Being cash only in 2025 is annoying but the prices and quality of food makes up for it. If you want a classic dinner experience, this is the place to go.

Came here in honor of the show Shameless. The food was great and the worker was friendly. They are a cash only business and have an ATM inside. Highly recommend coming here for breakfast. The hash browns were the best part! It is on the cheaper side as well.

The quintessential diner. Lots of places try to replicate this atmosphere, but Golden House is the real deal. Plus, it’s inexpensive—we got 3 meals and two coffees for $36, plus tip. Will be coming back!
