Fatso's Last Stand — neighborhood american in Ukrainian Village. Order the Burgers. Casual, established, and unapologetic about it, and open late. Kalei Halm: "The Chicago dog was amazing, the best I’ve had yet"

“👍 What Makes It Good The “char dog” is a standout: authentic Chicago-style hot dog, with traditional toppings (mustard, relish, onions, tomato slices, sport peppers, celery salt) on a Vienna all-beef dog”
My husband and I decided to try this place again for a casual date night and to check this place off our list.
Not very good. Can’t believe I just laid down $26 for a single patty, fries, and shake. Best thing was the shake.
Let’s preface that this was a pick up order, The mind blowing thing is that to pick up an order you have to wait behind people that are ordering which I think is crazy , people ordering and paying all on the spot then you come say your name to pick up when obviously someone else behind the counter could’ve helped but didn’t even entertain the idea to help so let’s start with terrible service.

“Double Fatso Burger with Cheese” was definitely one of the BEST burgers I’ve had. Juicy, perfectly cooked, and loaded with flavor—Fatso’s Last Stand absolutely delivers. Chicago classic for a reason.

“Well done American fare; I liked the char dog that I got.”
Well done American fare; I liked the char dog that I got. The fries were crispy but still had good potato heft, and the cheese sauce had more depth than typical nacho cheese sauce. I particularly enjoyed the banana shake. It tasted like they had used fresh bananas and did not skimp out. I tasted my friend's cookies and cream shake that had nice bits of cookie.

“Fatso's Last Stand Here’s the scoop on Fatso’s Last Stand in Chicago: 📍 Locations & Info ...”
Fatso's Last Stand Here’s the scoop on Fatso’s Last Stand in Chicago: 📍 Locations & Info Flagship location: 2258 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60622 (in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood) Second location: 1982 N Clybourn Ave, Chicago, IL 60614 (in the Lincoln Park/Clybourn Commons area) They serve char-grilled Chicago-style hot dogs, burgers, fried shrimp, mac & cheese, etc. 👍 What Makes It Good The “char dog” is a standout: authentic Chicago-style hot dog, with traditional toppings (mustard, relish, onions, tomato slices, sport peppers, celery salt) on a Vienna all-beef dog. Beyond dogs: They offer burgers with some creative twists (e.g., “Double Fatso,” “Ooey Gooey” burger) and other comfort-food fare like fried shrimp and mac & cheese. It has a casual, no-frills vibe — good for a late-night bite or for satisfying hearty cravings. ⚠️ Things to Know / Tips Because it’s pretty casual, expect limited indoor seating (especially at the original location). Some reviews note it's more of a stand with outdoor seating or picnic-tables. Parking in Chicago can be tricky: the original location has some parking behind the store, but you may need to find street parking nearby. Quality and service have mixed reviews in recent years — some customers love it, others think it’s gotten more expensive or not as consistent. For example: > “used to be my go to place… food is super overpriced and uncaring staff.” If you go to the Clybourn location, note the closing hours may be earlier than the original spot. According to one review: “The Clybourn location (same as pictured) … close at 8 pm” in some cases. ✅ My Recommendation If you’re in Chicago and in the mood for a real Chicago hot dog or a big burger, Fatso’s is worth a visit. If time allows, go to the original Ukrainian Village location (2258 W Chicago Ave) because it has the full vibe. Arrive a bit early if possible, especially if you want to avoid the late-night rush or limited seating. --- If you like, I can pull up the full menu for you (with current pricing) or check hours for both locations for you. Would you like that?

“I’ve already been here twice in the last 24 hours that’s how good it is.”
I’ve already been here twice in the last 24 hours that’s how good it is! I tried the Chicago dog and it was absolutely delicious. Their fries remind me of Five Guys, which I love. I also had the Fatso Burger with cheese, and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, hot, and made to order.

That's my first time I eat there at Fatso's Last Stand when I had Italian Beef sandwich with Giardiniera peppers and fries. I'm totally satisfied with this Vienna Beef restaurant location in Ukrainian Village neighborhood.

This restaurant is a must for anyone visiting Chicago who loves hamburgers and got dogs with all their variations. This isn't all they serve. Check out their menu. Three days in a row, I ate the Char Dog Special. They serve the char dog all the way with their own spin on toppings. I had mine the way I grew up eating hotdogs with just mustard and onion.... 3 days in a row. Don't walk, run to Fatso's Last Stand for great food!!

“QUALITY BURGER and served UNSMASHED in its wrapper.”
QUALITY BURGER and served UNSMASHED in its wrapper. Sauce is also the secret to it’s already delicious hamburger patty. Fries are really tasty, too. And the BEST PART are their BOOZY SHAKES selections!

The Chicago dog was amazing, the best I’ve had yet! Cheese sauce wasn’t for me but my boyfriend liked it, more of a beer cheese. My boyfriend had the burger and it was incredible! ALMOST had me wishing I got one myself, but the grilled dog was perfect!

“Picked most recommended places for Chicago Dogs and went to 4, this did not disappoint.”
Picked most recommended places for Chicago Dogs and went to 4, this did not disappoint. Surprised by amazing shakes. The grilled bun makes it hold together and eat easier but tasting experience was argued in group if better than steamed or worse. Also these are Char dogs. Normally I argue order of dog starts best with charcoal for char grill, propane grill, griddle, NY dirty water, deep fried, steamed, boiled, then microwaved... but with the dragged through garden Chicago style 2 of 3 argue the steamed elsewhere is better match to all the other flavors. The toppings great, nice and heavy on celery salt (2 of 3 preference), and the heavy poppy seeds was great. Best looking dog! And if Char dog your gig, this is the place!
