Blue Line Lounge & Grill is seriously underrated and an absolute must if you’re in Wicker Park. Tucked right under the Blue Line station, it completely exceeds expectations from the moment you walk in. The art deco vibe is straight-up cool—great atmosphere without trying too hard. And the food? Even better. The pickle chips were perfectly crispy, the blackened chicken wrap was packed with flavor, and the sweet potato fries are an absolute must—you won’t regret ordering them. This place nails both vibe and execution. Already looking forward to coming back.

This has become my go-to spot for a drink! They have a great martini list with fun flavors, and a great happy hour deal ($8 martinis)! Their espresso martinis is one of my favorite in the city! The food is great here with solid prices, I especially recommend the cookie skillet from the dessert menu. The atmosphere and vibe is great in here and the service is always very friendly!

The Happy Hour Hustle: Blue Line Lounge & Grill If you’ve spent any time commuting through Wicker Park, you know the neon glow of the Blue Line Lounge is as much a neighborhood staple as the Damen stop itself. As someone who treats "Happy Hour" like a competitive sport, I’m always on the hunt for a deal that doesn't sacrifice my dignity—or my palate. Naturally, the allure of $8 Martini Night drew me in. In a city where $18 cocktails are becoming the grim reality, $8 feels like a nostalgic hug. But as we all know, you often get exactly what you pay for. The Pour I started with the Midnight Express. On paper, it sounds like a sophisticated, moody pick. In the glass? It was a bit of a flatline. The profile was incredibly one-note, lacking the bitter complexity or the aromatic "kick" you’d expect from a well-crafted espresso-style martini. It wasn't offensive, but it certainly lacked the depth to make it memorable. Next up was the Passion Fruit Martini. This one swung hard in the opposite direction. If you’re a fan of childhood fruit punch, you might be in heaven; for me, it was cloyingly sweet. The tart, tropical brightness of the passion fruit was buried under a sugary weight that made it feel more like a spiked juice box than a cocktail. The Atmosphere & Experience Where the drinks might wobble, the Vibe (5/5) remains unshakable. Stepping inside feels like entering a mid-century transit hub reimagined as a cozy diner-lounge; it’s retro, dimly lit, and effortlessly cool without trying too hard. It's the kind of place where you can actually hear your friends talk, which is a rare luxury these days. The Service (4/5) also keeps the wheels turning smoothly. Even when the "Martini Night" crowd starts to swell, the staff remains attentive and efficient. You aren't going to get a fifteen-minute lecture on the origin of your bitters, but you won't be sitting with an empty glass for long, either. The Verdict: 3/5 (for Cocktails) Blue Line Lounge is a mood. At $8, these martinis are a fantastic value for a casual night out. However, if you're looking for balanced mixology and nuanced layers, you might find these a bit underwhelming. They are priced appropriately for what they are—straightforward, high-volume drinks that get the job done. The Bottom Line: Go for the unbeatable atmosphere and the efficient service, but keep your expectations level with the price point when it comes to the martinis.

Sammy and staff always make it a good place for drinks, dinner. Local favorite and conveniently located under the blue line. Plenty of drink specials and board games to keep the night lively.

Don't go to the city often so I can't compare to the surrounding area bar and grills. Speaking on behalf of bar and Grills for a rumbling Saturday night. We even had a bigger group, they got us seated and our waitress was wonderful and up beat. It was very clean. I liked the idea of having a bar and grill under the blue line train platform. The wait for food and drinks was barely a wait and looked and tasted good. Definitely worth a stop in!
