Kinnaree Thai Kitchen — honest thai in Bucktown. Order the Chive Dumplings. Old-school in the best sense, with zero pretense. Owner-operated, BYOB. "Their Panang Curry is another must-try; it's rich, creamy, and packs just the right amount of heat" — Alice Mendoza

“It was our first time trying the restaurant so we came with another couple to make sure we can order a variety of food”
Ordered takeout here and wanted to try this place for the first time.
Most Thai places are decent, nothing amazing but they get the basics right.
Friendly staff and on-time pick up for our takeout order. We mistakenly did not read food reviews before trying.

“Kinnaree is our favorite Thai restaurant in the city.”
Kinnaree is our favorite Thai restaurant in the city! It's family owned and run, and it's clear that they take great pride in providing the highest quality service and food. I would highly recommend the kow pad fried rice, any of their curries, and all of their appetizers. Their iced coffee is also to die for!

“Had a very enjoyable dinner at Kinnaree.”
Had a very enjoyable dinner at Kinnaree. It was our first time trying the restaurant so we came with another couple to make sure we can order a variety of food. All the food tasted great, full of flavour and spice level was good. We like the portion to price. Portions are not enourmous but neither is the price. This made it reasonable to order a variety. Our party of four ordered 3 appetisers and 4 entrees 👍 and one dessert. Family run business, which are like. Service was a bit slow but they get alot of carry out/delivery business so the kitchen gets very busy.

“Kinnaree Thai Kitchen is a cozy gem tucked away in Lincoln Park.”
Kinnaree Thai Kitchen is a cozy gem tucked away in Lincoln Park. The Pad Thai is a standout—perfectly balanced with a generous portion that’s both satisfying and flavorful. Their Panang Curry is another must-try; it's rich, creamy, and packs just the right amount of heat. The restaurant's BYOB policy is a bonus, allowing guests to pair their meal with a favorite beverage without the extra cost. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. With dishes averaging around $13, it's a solid choice for authentic Thai cuisine in the area.

“Small place with a fabulous waitress.”
Small place with a fabulous waitress. Menu just has the basic Thai menu, nothing special except maybe desserts. My Thai wife got Pad Kee Mao and it was nothing special. I got the Basil dish and requested very spicy. They got the spice right but if the dish is called Basil, maybe put some in it? I was disappointed as I love a strong Thai basil flavor. I've wanted to try this place for a long time but unfortunately I won't be back because there are many better places close by.

“Ordered takeout here and wanted to try this place for the first time.”
Ordered takeout here and wanted to try this place for the first time. First red flag was a long delay (30+ mins) during our pickup even though the restaurant wasn't busy, they didn't appear to start making our order till we arrived for pickup. We ordered very standard items: pad thai, pad see ew, and khao soy. While the food portions were ok, it did not taste like typical Thai food.. for example the pad see ew noodles were very bland and didn't have the normal sweet soy sauce flavor. Overall was disappointed in the quality and lack of authenticity in their flavor, and my wife's stomach hurt afterwards as well. We unfortunately don't plan to order from here again as there are many other Thai options in the city.

Most Thai places are decent, nothing amazing but they get the basics right. The food here was missing even basic favor profiles of Thai food. Chicken was boiled and unseasoned. Curry was plain as well, just nothing really going on.

“Got this for a group of coworkers and probably the worst experience as the store was not even open on time.”
Got this for a group of coworkers and probably the worst experience as the store was not even open on time. The soup is very watered down and did not have good flavor. Also got the curry and the potatoes were not even fully cooked. Turkey disappointed with this meal and unlikely to go there again.

“Wasn't going to leave a bad review because the restaurant refunded immediately when i called, but...”
Wasn't going to leave a bad review because the restaurant refunded immediately when i called, but the continued developments warrant it now. As we were digging into our fried rice delivery (that was ~20 mins late), I bite into a nice piece of steel wool (apparently from washing the wok) mixed into my rice. Call the restaurant, they refend us (w/ suspicious ability to immediately identify the source of the mystery metal in my meal), think it's resolved. Proceed to continue eating the fried rice warily, to be met with actual HUGE eggshell piece.l in the rice as well. Officially throwing the rest of the order out now.

“Charming little restaurant with great staff and amazing food.”
Charming little restaurant with great staff and amazing food. This was the best fried rice I’ve ever had. My husband ordered the duck curry, which tasted incredible too. There was no wait on a Monday night and we came to celebrate his birthday. BYOB no uncorking fee. The chef did an amazing job! They even remind you of timing and made sure we got out of there in time for our next event. Too bad we don’t live closer because we’d be coming back regularly! Didn’t take food pics because we dug right in.

“Great spot for lunch.”
Great spot for lunch! They have $12 lunch specials which is a great deal. I had the Basil Fried Rice and Pad Kee Mao noodles - both were delicious and on point taste.
