Tanta Cocina Peruana — a River North peruvian mainstay. Always packed, always worth it. Worth ordering a drink, because the bar holds its own. Mindysv: "The Lomo Saltado was excellent and perfectly seasoned" [$$$, patio]

☀️Patio — a River North classic in summer.

Was very happy with the food, it was delicious! Great for sharing as we did among the four of us. Energetic atmosphere, nice bar on main level and great seating upstairs. Everything had such a variety of great flavors; lamb chops were tender, empanadas tender, the rice and seafood and steak with the shrimp omelette was awesome, same with chicken skewers. I thought the potatoes were dry but maybe that’s inline with Peruvian potatoes. Service was not the best but maybe he was overwhelmed, the service at the main level bar before we were seated was spot on. I will absolutely go back.

If you love Peruvian food, you have to visit this restaurant in Chicago. Every dish we tried was delicious, and the portions were generous. Great atmosphere, a nice wine selection, and excellent service. Highly recommended!

I honestly don’t have a single bad thing to say about this place. From the moment we walked in, everything was just right. We were welcomed by Camila, and she was hands down the best host I’ve ever had at any restaurant. She was genuinely warm, friendly, and made us feel welcome from the second we arrived. Once we were seated, Luis took care of us, and he was just as amazing. He gave great recommendations, checked on us throughout the meal without being overbearing, and you could tell he really cared about making sure we had a great experience. The restaurant itself has such a great vibe. The music was perfect, everything was spotless, and every single person we interacted with had such a positive attitude. Luis recommended the passion fruit pisco sour, and I’m so glad he did because it was incredible. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and every single one was outstanding. The salmon ceviche completely surprised me since I’d never had salmon ceviche before, but it ended up being one of my favorite dishes. The classic ceviche with the crispy calamari was just as good, and the seafood rice, almost like a risotto, was easily one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time. We also had the pork belly baos and the beef empanadas, and honestly, everything that came to the table was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. This is one of those restaurants that already has me thinking about my next visit before I even left. The food, the service, the atmosphere, and the attention to detail were all 10/10. I’d come back again and again without thinking twice.

Had a great dinner at Tanta! The atmosphere was lively and fun, and the service was excellent. We didn’t order much because we were planning to check out another newly opened restaurant by the river afterward, but everything we tried was really good. Even with just a couple of dishes, we enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back to try more of the menu. Looking forward to our next visit!

Trip down memory lane! It’s been 2 yrs since I left Chicago And this is where I build my love for Peruvian food~~ It didn’t disappoint me! I love their empanadas and the fish~~ Only regret is I feel the seafood fried rice is a bit different? Love the old version or maybe I ordered sth wrong this time 😂 But still pretty good in general!

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to and the dishes I had here were one of the most amazing meals I have ever had. My boss recommended this restaurant and it is one of the only restaurants he comes to over and over again when he is in Chicago. If you are visiting Chicago, you have to go to Tata before you leave. I don’t know where else you can get Peruvian food like this but this place is a restaurant you do not want to miss visiting. You can’t go wrong with anything in the menu but I highly recommend the ceviche even if you do not like raw fish. The ambience and atmosphere is also so beautiful. For those looking for an instagram worthy restaurant, this is the place plus you get to enjoy really delicious food.

We went in the winter so unfortunately we couldn’t see the rooftop but the food was still amazing! I recommend trying as many samplers as possible as it really gives a full taste of what they have to offer. The civiche is delicious and fresh in all its forms and the empanadas and very delicate and full of flavor as well.

Girl food runner was way more attentive than the man/girl server, which showed up twice, when we order and when we ask for the check, food was spectacular, ambiance as well.

Was a busy night and glad we did take reservations ahead of time. We primarily went for cocktails and appetizers and found the food was amazing and a lot of exciting flavors. Highly recommended their ceviche and their salmon dish but the portions seemed slightly small overall for all the appetizer’s. Can be a little noisy and a little on the pricey side.
