Prime & Provisions Steakhouse
Prime & Provisions pairs precisely cooked steaks with a chic, polished atmosphere that regulars favor for date nights and special occasions. Standouts include the melt-in-your-mouth flaming bacon, hot honey shrimp, salmon, lamb chops, and a burger many call Chicago’s best, plus creative cocktails and a popular happy hour. Service is usually attentive, though one review noted an unevenly cooked steak and a rushed experience.

“We really enjoyed this place on our visit to Chicago last year but I’m seeing now that it might be temporarily closed which is unfortunate as we had an enjoyable time here. Food and Service were on point so hopefully they open up again.”

“Everything here was amazing. Video is of the flaming bacon. Melt in your mouth. Highly recommend.”

“I have been to Prime and Provisions on numerous occasions. This particular day it was the grand reopening after being closed for 8 months. I believe I was the first guest to return as I tried to enter for my reservation but the door was locked. I waited a few minutes and a gentleman came to the side door stating they were open but needed a manager to unlock the other door. When I entered they were still setting up which surprised me after they had been closed for so long. I don't know why but I expected the grand opening to be a bit more lively. Not that I expected a ticker tape parade but the greeting was very lack luster. I sat in the bar area which was a little different after the renovations. The cocktail menus were not ready and still being printed. My server was great. She asked what type of spirit I liked and named the best options on the cocktail menu. For food, I ordered the grilled oysters which is a new item for them. They were okay. (Disclaimer, I just got back from New Orleans ... so 😂). I also ordered the crab cake, seared scallops and whipped potatoes which were all very good. The dirty martini was good as well. Food was good service was great but I expected more for a grand reopening. At some point during my meal a manager came over to thank me for being the first guest to return. She was very pleasant and did check on me before I left. I felt like the experience would have been better with some live music, maybe a glass of champagne, or some small gesture to welcome your returning guests. The energy picked up before I left but it was very flat when I arrived.”

“I really wanted to give them 5 stars! We came twice during our trip to Chicago, first night was absolutely amazing, but the second night (my birthday dinner) we were let down with the service. As we were walking the city, we decided to stop for their happy hour, which is amazing. Ricky was our server, he was outstanding, we loved him! So we asked to be seated on his area for my birthday dinner, which was two days after the first day we came by; the second night, the service was so bad, our drinks were forgotten, we were even forgotten at some point during the night, the strange part was that no servers were on the floor but only the busboys, not sure if something was going on, but we felt we were let down and forgotten, we even had to pour our own wine… at least our busboy was so funny and he actually made us laugh a few times. The food: food was amazing! The happy hour food is great, and the full menu food is amazing too! The steaks were cooked to perfection, the side dishes complimented so good the steaks, big portions! We were two and we ordered more than enough. Overall the food is amazing, service was great the first night, the second night not so much, our busboy saved the second night.”
“Prime is back and Chicago is better for it! Matt did a fantastic job behind the bar and I am blown away by the happy hour. Cheers to the reopening and future meals!”
“Everything was FIRE. Service, food, all of it. So glad P&P is back.”
