“June 2026: escalator works w a new door April 2026: fudge we were doing so well. They’re redoing the front to the store so the escalator is down. Dec 2025: we had a wild 7 months of excellent escalator work but it’s down again but hey they take Apple Pay now! May 2025: escalator has been repaired… for now April 2025: escalator remains broken March 2025: escalator still broken Feb 2025 update: the escalator in the store has been broken for weeks. // It’s sad really because this could be (and probably once was) a nice store. I shop here due to convenience but the selection is often limited or unavailable, products are often on the wrong shelf, and there are NEVER available carts. You want a cart? Hunt one down. Don’t want to do this? Hold what you can carry. Oh they also do not take Apple Pay. Meanwhile, down the road, Whole Foods has no trouble stocking their food, supplying carts and baskets and accepting Apple Pay. I hope Mariano’s Corporate reads this, comes to this store. and gives the manager and staff a talking to. It is embarrassing.”

“This is one establishment that I’ll never shop at again. I went there on yesterday (Mother’s Day) .. I purchased mainly seafood items such as salmon , talapia and shrimp scampi (pre-packaged). I also went to the actual deli part and got assistance with purchasing fresh shrimp (X-large) and Crablegs. Once I made it home to prepare my Mother’s Day feast, as soon as I opened both my kitchen reaked so badly . I mean the seafood was so spoiled it was ridiculous. I had a host of family members over to accommodate and literally was in a bind due to that. I didn’t get a picture of the shrimp but I did get a close up on how nasty yhe crabs were. Not only was my Mother’s Day dinner ruined, I had to drive 30 mins to return the spoiled merchandise. Please pay attention when purchasing from this location. Everything is so high these establishments are trying to preserve the best way they can and unfortunately Seafood can’t be. Im just happy I caught it early‼️”
“This Mariano’s is a great grocery store, especially for a downtown Chicago location. It is right in the West Loop, so it is convenient for people living or working downtown, but it is also close enough to the West Side that it is easy to get to from several surrounding neighborhoods. The store has a solid selection of groceries, prepared foods, produce, household items, and everyday essentials. I have always been able to find what I need, and I have not had any major complaints about the store, the service, or the overall experience. In my opinion, Mariano’s is still a better version of Jewel. The stores generally feel more modern, the selection is stronger, and the overall shopping experience is better. For a grocery store in this part of the city, this location does a good job balancing convenience, variety, and quality. Definitely one of the better grocery options in the West Loop and an easy five stars from me.”
