Ovvio Italian Taverna
Ovvio Italian Taverna — Glenview italian anchored by the Pizza. It gets busy, and that's part of the appeal. The drinks match the food in quality. "The pasta was cooked perfectly and had tons of flavor, and the garlic knots were warm, soft, and super buttery" — Rikki hi

“Delicious food and drinks! Service was solid. Miguel T. was an outstanding server and the manager (forgot his name) was very helpful and friendly as well.”

“Scratch kitchen and it shows. Food quality was off the charts and service was outstanding.”

“Everything was delicious. I highly recommend the artichoke appetizers, going to be craving that one for the next few weeks.”

“Absolutely amazing customer service from Miguel! And the rest of the staff chiming in to do their duties were also very pleasant and polite. And the food was amazing! Their version of a margarita pizza was the best I ever had!”

“Everything we had was very good and we're definitely planning on going back. Some may wonder why I gave this 5 stars when I'm not raving more about the food. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere is what I would expect for a restaurant in a nice suburb. Have I had better pasta? Yes, at a more expensive restaurant in Chicago or in Italy. We didn't have any pizza, but it's definitely on my list for the next visit after seeing them being brought to other tables.”

“Came in for the first time today and had a 10/10 experience. The server was kind and attentive, the food was the best Italian food i have ever had, and the atmosphere was perfect for a nice but not up tight dining experience. I would highly recommend coming here for a nice night out with friends, family, or significant other.”

“We had such a wonderful experience here! The food and cocktails absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish was a hit. Some favorites 😋😋😋 Shrimp scampi was so delicious, spaghetti and wagyu meatballs were out of this world, the bronzino was light and yummy, vito sliders were so tasty and perfect to share, pappardelle short rib bolognese was good, the classic margarita pizza was incredible with the perfect crust and fresh ingredients you can taste, the artichoke alla romano were very tasty, and the prosciutto + burrata were definitely a favorite. For dessert we ordered the homemade cannolis which were good, but a bit overwhelming with the orange zest. We would have went easy on the orange zest or could have done without. What really made the night unforgettable was our server AVA, who went above and beyond. She was attentive, friendly, and so much fun. You can tell they truly care about the guests. Amazing food, amazing service—we can’t wait to come back!”

“From the warm welcome at the front door until the last bite of dessert, the Ovvio experience is stellar. The open floor plan, beautiful decor, and massive bar create an inviting atmosphere that the staff matches with its upbeat energy and attention. The creative drink menu has something for everyone, from spicy/savory to sweet. The smokey flavor of Mood Swing is a favorite. The food is delicious, with favorites including the Italian Wagyu Meatballs, Polpo alla Griglia and surprisingly good Housemade Mozzarella Logs for appetizers, Ovvio Pie and Napa Valley for pizza, Olivia’s Chicken and Rigatoni al Pesto Rosso for main courses, and Warm Butter Cake and Tiramisu for dessert. Overall, it feels like having dinner with a big Italian family, complete with robust conversation, food made with care, and hosts devoted to optimizing each guest’s experience.”

“Ambiance was wonderful. City feels in the suburbs. Even on the coldest day of the year, the atmosphere was great and the restaurant was completely packed. Great liquor selection, great bar scene. Great for a sit down dinner or to post up at the bar and have a few drinks and a great meal. We started with the calamari fritti, which was prepared to perfection, alongside the Wagyu meatballs and the beef ragu poutine with crispy steak fries. For our main course, we shared the chicken parm for two; it was absolutely amazing with a perfect crust and great sauce. We also enjoyed the spaghetti, rigatoni, and bucatini pasta, all of which were excellent. I look forward to returning soon to try more wonderful dishes.”

“Came here with a group of my girls today and I will say the hype around town did not let down! The reservation process was very easy and quick to fill out! We came in half an hour after they opened and we were greeted by such lovely hostesses and a warm atmosphere, the service by our server zusy was outstanding, she was very educated on the menu and answered every question we had. The food was immaculate and on the spot! we ordered a little more than we could handle because the menu was amazing haha! We definitely got our moneys worth and will be coming again!!!”

“Ordered the chicken piccata. 3 nice portions of chicken breast. Sauce was excellent with lemon and garlic. The chicken itself was rather bland and needed seasoning. Almost no salt on the chicken. It's very loud when the restaurant is full as it was at dinner time as the tables are packed in pretty tight. Overall a decent meal. Keep in mind all entrees do not come with sides. The tiramisu was very dry.”

“I was really excited to try Ovvio Italian Taverna since it’s new in Glenview and so close to home. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty underwhelming. We went during a late lunch / early dinner time, and it wasn’t busy, yet the service was still very slow. Everything took much longer than expected. The roasted Brussels sprouts had good flavor, but they weren’t crispy and ended up a bit soggy. I ordered the Mezze Lumache alla Vodka, which was the biggest disappointment. The sauce tasted like plain marinara rather than a creamy vodka sauce. The arugula and grape salad was fresh and good, just very basic. Nothing particularly memorable. The highlight of the meal was definitely Nonna’s chocolate hazelnut cake. It was good and a very generous portion. My friends also tried the calamari, Marsala chicken, and Wagyu meatballs. The calamari was probably the best dish of the night. The meatballs, however, were not good and ended up being sent back. Overall, not a terrible experience, but not somewhere I’d personally go back to. Hoping things improve as they settle in.”
