“Undoubtedly the best spot for Mexican takeout near Northwestern! Tomate has the most delicious burritos, so I will absolutely be returning to try some of their other offerings. This place only serves to go, and it closes fairly early, so check it out before it gets too late!”

“best burritos in evanston by a mile! i live out of town now and i make a special stop here every time i’m near evanston.”

“I believe the quality has gone downhill recently to the point I will avoid eating here. The burritos here are almost entirely rice. I feel like this wasn't always the case, and having asked many friends who are also regulars here, and looking through pictures from the last few years, I have concluded that they recently started oversaturating the burritos with rice as a cost-cutting measure. The result is the tragedy that you see in the picture. It would not be too much extra money to add more beans or pico de gallo instead of the mountain of rice you get. There is also no option to ask for less rice. I can only eat so many pounds of rice a week, and it costs so much to add extras (up to 3.50 per extra) that I don't think it's worth the money here anymore. If any manager reads this, you used to be my favorite lunch place in all of Evanston. Please, please, please take it easy on the rice. I would love to be able to recommend your food to people, but it is not a good value deal anymore with the pile of rice you add.”

“The Yuca gordita has not tasted very dry! and the carne asada quesadillas are ok taste but too greesy 👎 no cream in side. The plantain pictures show a dressing. There was no dressing when I picked up the order 😒. Service, bad! They don't want to talk to anybody. Never order again 😒”
“Great little walk-up counter! They have a bench and a couple tables outside for seating but no seating indoors, which definitely isn’t a problem on a nice summer day. I got the cochinita pibil burrito meal, which came with a generously stuffed burrito, chips, guacamole, and a bag of Famous Amos cookies. The flavor on the burrito was excellent—rich and filling and just spicy enough! I also got the hibiscus orange agua fresca which was extremely refreshing.”
“My husband & my favorite place for burritos — so fresh, well portioned & reasonably priced! Last night the Al pastor & grilled chicken burritos — so good!”
“Fantastic carne aside burritos with very good salsa!!! The workers are always friendly and they make the food super fast! Also the burritos are affordable! One of my go to spots in Evanston for a quick, delicious, affordable meal!”
“They are so friendly and their food is so good! Love having a unique flavor in this neighborhood.”
“The best burrito place near NU by far. The rice is 1000x more flavorful than any of the chains downtown!”
