Solazo
Solazo — neighborhood mexican in Brighton Park. The look is curated without feeling cold. Worth ordering a drink, because the bar holds its own. "It's hard to pick one dish that stands out because all of the food was delicious and fresh" — Judith GotYou OnCamera [$$, patio]

“Marty Quinn's fanciest restaurant in the ward, and it's great!”

“It was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. We went for breakfast and since there were very few customers, we took our time to enjoy our food and coffee without feeling rushed. They don't offer free chips and salsa like other restaurants, but we didn't mind. We ordered the Steak Skillet, which was delicious and came with around 8 small flavorful home made tortillas, and the Desayuno Solazo that was big enough that it kept me full until dinner time!!! The service was excellent. Liz A. was our server and she was very nice and attentive. The prices were reasonable too. Great music selection for the background (oldies/classic in Spanish). The establishment was very clean too.”

“Been coming here for a year, consistently. Always a great time and could consider it my guilty pleasure. Joel and José luis are really great bartenders and know their stuff really well. My girlfriend and I make it known we PREFER to sit at the bar ALWAYS!”

“Just had the most delicious meal! Two tacos - Pollo & Carnitas were delicious as usual. Carne de jugo - an amazing broth with steak, avocado, bacon, beans and more - served with hot and fresh tortillas. Pleasantly spicy and satisfying. Excellent service and great music playing in the background, made the night complete.”

“Stopped in on my way to Midway and blown away by this place. Nice bar, seating inside and great outdoor patio. My dinner was fantastic. Friendly, attentive staff. Must be a neighborhood favorite!!! ❤️”

“Salazob was beautiful, vibrant, energetic, and cozy, too. There's indoor seating with open-air windows. There's a full bar and outdoor seating as well. It felt amazing outside. My party elected to sit outside. The live DJ kept the tunes upbeat, and our server Monica was engaging. She provided exceptional service. Monica suggested food and drink options. She accommodated our needs. The food items were FLAVOR BOMBS. From the Ceviche De Coco, Guacamole Orginale, Ribeye Taco, Al Pastor, Asada, Cameron, Tripitas, Grilled Onions and Grilled Peppers. The drinks were oh so delicious! The Piel Morano was my escape to a carribean island. The Vibora de la Mar with the watermelon garnish was just fabulous. La Ley de Monte and Quien Se Anima agave flight were great to experience as well. Can't wait to return.”

“I love bringing people here, it’s amazing. I worked in the culinary industry for 15 years. What I learned while working as a chef is that there has to be consistency. By this I mean that Paco, Paul, George, or Rakim can make the same dish and it’s going to come out exactly the same. My favorite dish is La Tampiquena. Steak was good, the enchilada was fire, and the rajas were to die for. I’ve been to this spot twice in the last two weeks to get the same exact meal that I had before, so that should tell you something. They’re not paying me for this review, I’ve been here several times and every time they don’t fail. Come visit this spot if you want some authentic Mexican food, they have the patio open FYI.”

“The food was delicious and the tequila is smooth! Highly recommend this place!”

“This is a very cool & hip looking high end taqueria, but the portions are akin to Big Star but the flavors are all there. Also, the presentation is very eclectic, like those in the River North area, but this is located near Midway, in the West Lawn neighborhood. Their happy hour is weekdays at 4-6p; that’s where I ordered their tacos dorados, similar to a flauta, but is made of corn tortillas thats fried and crunchy. The chicken tinga served on a bed of lettuce with queso and beans and other ingredients was a treat. The crunchy taco was excellent and complimented each other from texture to acidity. Also ordered single tacos of shrimp (camarón) and battered cod (baja) was flavorful and refreshing with the crisp cabbage and aioli. I definitely will go there again just for these tacos, which I believe are priced fairly, though a bit small, but full of flavor. The bar staff was super friendly and accommodating. I’m sure this is packed close to the weekend, but this Tuesday was my only availability.”
