La Mejikana
La Mejikana — trusted mexican in Pilsen. Good energy here, especially on weekends. The bartender knows what they're doing. "The best part about going during the weeknight is there's tons of street parking" — Plus Size in Chicago [$$, patio]

“Relaxed + cozy is what I’d describe the nature of this restaurant to be. We were the first table upon opening + sat ourselves. The server brought out complementary chips + salsa along with water. I appreciate her kindness without overbearing. The soft serve margarita ($18) was pretty tasty. On the weekends brunch is served so the menu is limited, which I was unaware of but the food was flavorful + appropriate for the price. The chicken sandwich ($14) could include tater tots or a side, however the breakfast platter ($16) was HUGE + well worth it. The mangonada shots ($5 each) were strong. Service was pleasant, strong drinks, quick service + flavorful makes it a win in my book! I would return.”

“La Mejikana on 18th and Ashland is one of my favorite spots. Their Tampiqueña is hands down one of my favorite dishes. It's always cooked perfectly, tender, and full of flavor. Everything that comes on the plate is delicious, and the whole meal just works together. I've had it several times, and it's consistently excellent. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth ordering.”

“This my first time and Joseph was great and made ordering easy great places great atmosphere friendly staff”

“Drinks are amazing. The chicken and shrimp empanadas are delicious. I really hope they keep their integrity over time. I love this place”

“I saw their advertisement on Instagram and decided to go and try the frozen margarita. It's is a small bar restaurant. I ordered the strawberry mango with chamoy. The presentation was beautiful. I didn't taste either fruit. It wasn't bad, just not what I expected. The tacos were excellent. The DJ was great! It was Friday so it was a younger crowd. Would I eat their again, yes! Would I order the frozen margarita, no.”

“Whatever masa they used for the tortillas and chilaquiles was super tasty. Both dishes were delicious, I’d come again and get the same exact order. The vibes were also great and music was good.”

“Stopped in for an afternoon refresher - this DELICIOUS tamarind michelada was everything I could ask for!!”

“We had some outstanding tacos here. Both braised beef and pescados were made by some people with soul. The guy that served us was a star, handelung the whole place by himself and working like a human robot. Beers were perfect with a great selection of mexican and south american lagers. Definately you should give this place a try considering the city of Chicago, even with all the theater venues, closes down after 9pm in week end and places like this are quite hard to find”
