“Loved this restaurant! We saw it was Michelin rated and did not disappoint. Drinks, apps, entree and homemade desserts were all delish! I wish I lived closer but definitely worth the visit! Can’t wait to go back again. ❤️❤️❤️”

“Fantastico, mi favorito en la ciudad junto con “kie-go-lanee”. La comida está hecha con esmero…. The negative reviews regarding service are from people that are accustomed to the corporate drivel and falseness that is prevalent in most Chicago restaurants. This is a real restaurant with a purpose, and they treat it that way. Fantastic !”

“So delicious!!! I came here with family and we left feeling full for the rest of the day! Everything is perfectly crafted and put together well. Also had a coffee flan with blueberries and it’s the best dessert I’ve ever had and I normally don’t even like flan! Never thought the two went together so good but my family and I are excited to come back again soon.”

“A true gem that hasn’t missed a beat in the nearly twenty years since last visit. Excellent, warm service, great cocktail selection at reasonable prices and outstanding dishes, beautifully executed. Moles are a standout, everything great. The pay de coco was one of best desserts I’ve had and I’m not a huge dessert person.”

“So much flavor, we tried basically the entire menu and it was all amazing. Super authentic and unique flavors”

“Sol de Mexico absolutely blew us away. We originally ordered three 5-course meals, and the chef surprised us by transforming it into a 15-course tasting experience. Every dish was phenomenal—beautifully presented, elevated in flavor, and crafted with true artistry. The sauces alone were a journey, ranging from perfectly sweet to deliciously spicy. The drinks were just as impressive. Their margaritas are top-tier, and you have to try the Tamarindo Mezcal margarita—smoky, sweet, spicy, and easily one of the best cocktails we’ve ever had. The ambience is incredible. From the moment you walk in, the décor makes you feel like you’ve stepped right into Mexico—vibrant colors, cultural touches, and a warm atmosphere that sets the tone for an authentic, elevated culinary experience. Service was exceptional all around. Our server was attentive and friendly, the busser was fast and on point, and the chef personally coming out to greet us made the night truly memorable. If you’re looking for world-class flavors, stunning cocktails, and an environment that transports you straight to Mexico, Sol de Mexico is a must-visit. We can’t wait to return!”

“Nos encantó todo! Una delicia las enchiladas vegetarianas que nos moldearon a veganas y los sopecitos muy ricos. El guacamole increíble! Todo muy recomendable.”

“Came with my wife and sister in law. They had more traditional plates and loved the tamale de elote and chiles en nogadas. The filet mignon was cooked great. The salsa that came with it was also very good and had a kick to it. Also can’t go wrong with handmade tortillas”
“The service was lovely. Really nice busboy and server who were very attentive. The atmosphere was so cute. They have Mexican art all over the walls and have nice paragraphs in their menu talking about their mission. The food was outstanding!!! Highly recommend the ceviche and the sopes for appetizers. Everything we ate was delicious; even the white rice was bursting with flavor. I had a pomegranate margarita and it was also so tasty (and only $13). The portions were quite big and we had a ton of leftovers. It’s not going to be the fastest service of all time. It’s a slow-paced, relaxed environment, and they are doing a wonderful job. If you want your food in 10 minutes, go to Taco Bell. If you want a delicious culinary experience and a chance to look at some cool art while you wait, come here.”
