PONCITLAN JALISCO #1 TAQUERIA — a mexican spot in Irving Park. The food tastes like it should, with no compromises. Ask questions, the staff has answers, and easy on the wallet. "Their red salsa is one of the best in the city as well" — Rafael Mendoza

“Friendly staff, delicious tacos.”
Friendly staff, delicious tacos. I had tacos, 1 pastor and 1 asada. The meat was fresh and flavorful. The tortillas were also fresh and the salsas were excellent!

“Come and taste freshly cooled Mexican food.”
Come and taste freshly cooled Mexican food. I loved the tortilla chip served upon arrival. My best order is "tacos de lengua". It was well cooked. Give it a try.

“I have been coming here for years.”
I have been coming here for years. They have amazing Mexican food. My favorite are the Tortas. The Horchatas are out of this world. If I could add more stars I would. Also their signature Poncitlan Quesadillas with asada is fabulous. Served with a pile of sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Two hungry people can eat from it. Their rice and frijoles are not only authentic but super affordable. They are generous with their food. This place is very well kept. Staff is usually busy but well organized. It is family owned. Please support this local business. They really do deserve it. Thank you for all of your service.

“This place is a must try if you are around Logan Square.”
This place is a must try if you are around Logan Square! I'm from Texas and therefore really particular about my Mexican food, but this place was delicious!! The service was quick and friendly, the portions were huge and the prices were low. I'll definitely be travelling across town to eat at this place again in the near future. I had the ranchero burrito and it was amazing, and huge.

“The table was super wobbly.”
The table was super wobbly. The waitress tried to fix it by folding about 20 napkins, but it didn't work. The table was sticky. The food was simple and not seasoned. It took a long time to arrive. The place gets very crowded. I will not be coming back, the "Huge" pieces of carrots and potatoes were undercooked. however the service was good.

“Wait staff was quick and polite, bilingual but fluent in both spanish and english.”
Wait staff was quick and polite, bilingual but fluent in both spanish and english. Food was amazing! If you want to eat like a local and get the vibes of authenticity without the bougie prices further into Logan, this is the place to go. We had a Torta dinner and a Taco dinner with Horchatas and both were amazing! Total was right around 32$ without tip. Extremely high bang for your buck and flavor that, for me, stays with you for a while.
