La Josie — dependable mexican in West Loop. The atmosphere is half the draw here. If you drink, start at the bar. Teri Shigeno Bravo: "The black beans were incredible and the steak was so tender and juicy"

“The food itself will take you to places, a long with the quick and kind treatment and ambience make it perfectly”
Food was good. I feel like it was better the last 2 times I visited Chicago. The rotisserie chicken taco was legendary.
Overall take: The local is elegant and in a great area, perfect for a date if you're not very hungry.
Looks great and the service was pretty on point. Really nice atmosphere and a strong beverage program.

“Now this place is what we call a classy restaurant !!”
Now this place is what we call a classy restaurant !!! The food itself will take you to places, a long with the quick and kind treatment and ambience make it perfectly!!! We bought forgot the menu names but it's like a chicken sandwich, a beef burrito, like juice and tres leches for dessert. Everything was awesome. Clean restrooms, good quality drinking water, clean plates. We also did not have any wait time even though it was a weekend and lunch time. But it would be nice if you reserve and then go.

“Really delicious Lowkey spot for ceviche in West Loop.”
Really delicious Lowkey spot for ceviche in West Loop! So fresh and delicious! I've been to Cabra a few blocks away and the food here completely outshines that at Cabra. Sure, the rooftop at Cabra is nicer but the food here was the winner.

“Brunch was fabulous.”
Brunch was fabulous! They’ve got such an amazing Mezcal selection and cocktails were fire. The ceviche trio, shrimp diablo and coconut tres leches, were awesome. Right in the heart of the West Loop!

“Updated Visit (6/28/25) Visited again from a month ago.”
Updated Visit (6/28/25) Visited again from a month ago. La Josie continues amazing me. Food and drinks were amazing as last time. We ordered Queso Fundido- Rajas Poblanos, Mariscada, Tres Tacos Barbaco, Cebollitas, and Coconut Horchata Tres Leche. The flavor of each dish was unmatched. We were satisfied, to say the least. For drinks the Trompibueno and the Fresona to start. We finished with 2 "Dealer's Choice" cocktails from the bar. There was no disappointment. Our server V, was exceptional. She was extremely personable. V made plenty of great recommendations for food and drinks. We ultimately choose them. During the visit, my party requested rooftop seating. Diego did his best and got us seating. Kudos to Diego for his fun, energetic, exceptional service. Being on the rooftop was exclusive, scenic, and definitely laid back. The rooftop was a wonderful. The experience was great (5/27/25). Visited with family for birthday celebration. The area was fun and vibrant. The restaurant has a cool, laid-back vibe. Our server was great. Gathered all of our orders correctly and efficiently. All of the total ranging from asada, Pollo, to vegan were flavorful. Our server recognized the birthday we celebrated. Drinks were equally amazing. Great experience, for sure. Can't wait for the next visit.

“The chips and dip flight were insanely delicious.”
The chips and dip flight were insanely delicious. The ceviche was super fresh and clean. The toredos were delicious! The brisket tacos were out of this world. Elevated and super flavorful. The chicken enchiladas in salsa verde were the best I've ever had. The chicken tasted seasoned and roasted. The roasted salsa paired with it incredibly. The mezcal selection is super small batch. We sat on the roof at the little bar. Our bartender was super informative and really helped expand my knowledge with mezcal.

“Came here for Sunday brunch.”
Came here for Sunday brunch. The food was really good; I was pleasantly surprised. A lot of times, “upscale” Mexican restaurants don’t have great flavor and are overpriced. The black beans were incredible and the steak was so tender and juicy. The tortillas were handmade and so delicious! Will definitely be back again to check out the rooftop!

“Verania is amazing.”
Verania is amazing! Knowledgeable, warm and hospitable. We really enjoyed everything we had (except the blanco in the tequila flight which was just too strong for me). The shrimp quesadilla & the Chapuzon were the highlights for us! Great flavors! Everything was fresh and delicious! Also, big thanks to the manager, Victor who made sure we were well taken care of.

“I came here one night for dinner with my family.”
I came here one night for dinner with my family. We ordered two appetizers and a few taco plates to share. The guac and chips and the mariscada were delicious. All their tacos were delicious as well. Their staff were also very welcoming, attentive, and gave great recommendations of the menu.

“We visited during Chicago Restaurant Week and found the experience to be exceptional, especially...”
We visited during Chicago Restaurant Week and found the experience to be exceptional, especially considering the value at $42 per person. For appetizers, we indulged in the Al pastor sope and Rojas con queso tamale, both bursting with flavor and creativity. Our entrees, the Suadero tacos (steak) and Camarones al mojo de ajo (shrimp dish), were equally impressive and meticulously crafted. As someone who approaches "contemporary" cuisine with a hint of skepticism due to the potential for disappointment, La Josie shattered my reservations. Their execution was flawless, and each dish showcased the depth of Mexican flavors and culinary innovation. Being a devout fan of Mexican cuisine, I am selective about where I spend my dining dollars. La Josie has earned its place among the best, and I wouldn't hesitate to return, even willing to splurge a little extra for the outstanding experience. Brunch is already on our radar for our next visit.

Tevin Campbell once sang "round and round we go" and that's exactly what we did tonight... This West loop gem was pricey but well worth it. The food was beyond a 5 🌮 🌮 🌮 🌮 🌮 of 5 ...If 6 was a thing they would have earned it... Yes it was that good.... Who ever the bartender is needs a raise... Those beverages were EVERYTHING. 5 MARGARITA 🍹🍹🍹 🍹🍹OF 5 #Checkthemout #datenight #tacotuesday #doinglifetogether
