“Muy buenas las semitas.”

Muy buenas las semitas. Probe la tradicional que es con milanesa de pollo y la de arrachera. Tienen mas variedad de carnes y tambien camaron y pescado. Se que en otras partes le echan mas quesillo, aguacate y chile chipotle. Pero así como la probé esta muy bien por el precio y aparte incluye refresco. Los tacos también están buenos. Las meseras son muy amables.

El Taco Encebollado is a hidden gem, known for their taco truck but offering a unique dining experience at their brick-and-mortar location. The atmosphere here is cozy and intimate, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed evening meal—never too crowded, just the perfect place to enjoy fantastic food. I decided to try the Chicken Cazualitas Fritas, and they were unlike anything I’ve had before. These are the size of a sope, with the texture of a tostada, but shaped like a bowl. Picture a crispy, golden shell that’s firm enough to hold everything in place yet delicate enough to shatter with the first bite. The crunch of the base adds a delightful texture that contrasts beautifully with the tender, juicy chicken. The chicken itself was cooked to perfection, succulent, flavorful, and seasoned just right. Topped with a fresh mix of lettuce, queso fresco, grilled onions, creamy avocado, crema, cilantro and cabbage, each bite offered an exciting combination of textures and flavors. The creamy avocado and crisp cabbage perfectly balanced the crunchy base and savory chicken, while the grilled onions added a smoky sweetness that brought everything together. The salsas were the real game-changer. The chipotle salsa had a bold kick that lingered on my lips for hours, but it was the smoky depth of flavor that paired so beautifully with the chicken. The heat was just enough to enhance the dish without overpowering it, making each bite even more irresistible. El Taco Encebollado’s take on this dish is truly something special, and their brick-and-mortar location is definitely worth a visit for anyone craving a flavorful, satisfying meal with a unique twist.

Having frequented this location on multiple occasions, I can confidently say the food remains consistently outstanding. They offer more than just your standard tacos, with a diverse menu that includes specialty tortas, gorditas, and more. If you're in the Portsmouth neighborhood, this establishment is a must-visit.
