Hecho en Oak Park
Hecho en Oak Park — mexican in Forest Park; the Hibiscus Tacos is the highlight. The atmosphere is half the draw here. Worth ordering a drink, because the bar holds its own. "The mezcal drink was phenomenal as well, I got the grapefruit mezcalhucha" — Christopher gonzalez [$]

“Taquería Hecho en Oak Park es un excelente lugar para disfrutar auténtica comida mexicana. Los tacos al pastor son simplemente deliciosos: bien sazonados, jugosos y con ese sabor tradicional que te transporta directo a México. El ambiente es agradable y el servicio es amable, lo que hace que la experiencia sea aún mejor. Sin duda, un lugar muy recomendable si estás en Oak Park y tienes antojo de unos buenos tacos al pastor.”

“I had a good time there. Everything was nice. I really loved the food and the kind service.”

“After wrapping up our free high school haircuts community event by Oak Park Library and Access Granted services , we headed to Hecho in Oak Park and it was the perfect way to close out a day rooted in service and connection. From the moment we walked in, the energy matched our own: warm, welcoming, and full of flavor. They had the latin vibes not too loud and everybody was able to chat with one another. The staff greeted us with a "welcome" and quickly found us a table. Maybe we got lucky because from what we seen, while eating , it can get packed pretty quick. It was definitely not a place to hangout for 2+ hours, since they have limited sitting, Hecho en Oak Park might be small but it got that cozy, cantina style/ "fundita" vibe that instantly transports you to a vibrant corner of Mexico. Now let’s talk tacos. The fish and shrimp tacos were our favorite. Fresh meaty, and layered with just the right kick. The dinks hit the spot too, and the service was fast and friendly, keeping the good vibes flowing. On top of that, we would recommend the lentil soup and the "queso Fundido" as an appetizer. All tortillas were hand made with masa de maiz. Hecho is a place that feels like community. After a day of giving back, it gave us a moment to sit, savor, and reflect. Highly recommend”

“Being vegan, amazing tacos are somewhat hard to find. The jamaica and the nopalitos (no cheese) tacos are amazing! After discovering this little gem, I find myself craving these tacos at least once a week. Super yummy!”

“Lovely little spot for a flavorful, quality and filling bite to eat! Tried their shrimp special and highly recommend! The waitress was so attentive and helpful. She made the best drink recommendation! The atmosphere is colorful and homey!”

“If you're looking for a relaxed evening with a drink in hand and irresistible bites like tacos and nachos, this spot is just what you need! Tucked along the vibrant Lake Street, this cozy yet lively Mexican restaurant brings the Oak Park’s energy right to your table. The ambiance is a joyful tribute to Dia de los Muertos, with colorful artwork that instantly brightens the space and sets the mood. Though intimate in size, the atmosphere is brimming with fun and flavor. One of my favorite menu is The Mexican street corn, coated in mayo, Mexican cheese and smoky paprika. The menu is packed with bold flavors, whether you opt for the variety of tacos, the hearty burritos, or any of the other mouthwatering dishes. Every plate delivers a vibrant, satisfying taste that keeps you coming back for more.”

“Amazing food and people. If you're not a bug fan of cilantro, make sure you ask before you order;)”

“Food was great and well-portioned. They use fresh fruit in their beverages—super refreshing! Service was a little bit more on the slow end, however. There was only one server on a packed Friday night, and it took over 30 minutes to get the server’s attention for our check. Seating is limited, so I don’t recommend coming with a large party. Good overall if you’re ever in the area.”

“Although the food was tasty, the service/waitstaff was inattentive and lacking. I was the only customer eating in, and had to summon them any time I needed any type of assistance. Disappointing.”

“Food was good and of course pricey. But it's downtown Oakpark so you're going to pay. Service with a smile is recommended.”
“The tortillas are freshly made and the food is always on point. Service is always fast and the atmosphere is very cozy.”
“The food was absolutely delicious. We liked everything we tried. Homemade tortillas were amazing, pineapple pico was great, loved the fish tacos. The restaurant is fairly small, so it was a bit crowded with just a few parties seated at once. Everything is very clean and the staff was very kind and helpful.”
