El Cocula has kinda become the spot I come to for special occasions. It’s always the same, nice and quiet, that Mexican hacienda vibe, and sometimes the live mariachi walking around the tables just makes it feel even better. I went with the bistec a la mexicana… oh man, I haven’t had that in a really long time. Skirt steak simmered in a mild tomato sauce, with the bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes. The steak itself was juicy and tender, not tough at all, and it soaked up the sauce so every bite had that mix of smoky meat and the slight sweetness from the tomato. The peppers still had a little bite to them, not mushy, which I liked. The rice was fluffy and the beans were creamy and smooth, just the kind that makes the plate feel complete. Honestly, I need to start coming here more often. Between the food, the vibe, and the friendly staff, it always feels like a good choice.

I have been living in Chicago for 22 years , always passing this place flying Down Pulaski so I never stop by. Today, I did because someone told me they sold really good "Caldo." So I bought a Caldo de Res, for my wife, since she is sick. For me, I got a Torta de Milanesa de Pollo, because if a restaurant can't get the most simple item wrong, then nothing else will be good. The Caldo was amazing! From the broth to the meat and all the veggies, it was so 😋 😋. The torta, I have to say, it's one of the best I've had from any taco spot in the city, hands down!! Very well seasoned and cooked to perfection! I will definitely be back with the family to eat at the establishment! Great job! You noe have a new customer for life!

One of my favorite spots. The staff is always very attentive. The food is good & they have mariachi at the end of the day. They handle big tables very well. Bathrooms are always clean. The margarita size is perfect & the best flavor is guava.

This location is excellent if you are looking for a big dinner plate meal. Food is delicious as well as the drinks. Huge portions and prices are good. Service is always good. Overall, I highly recommend this location for a great Mexican Dinner.

Well, well what a find I have to say, the food was so, so delicious. I order a 7 mares soup it was fantastic, my wife order a beef fajitas the flavor was fantastic, the beans, the beef OMG this place is THE Place awesome mexican Restaurant. We do recommend 100% come and enjoy this delicious food. Even my horchata was the bomb.

We went there on a Saturday afternoon, not that packed. Food was good. Margaritas were good. We ordered "parrillada" for 2 people. 1 strawberry margarita and 1 peach margarita. The peach margarita had no peach flavor at all, but it wasnt bad to drink. Would go back to try other items on their menu. And will try to go after 5pm because right when we were leaving, the mariachi group started to sing. Would definitely have enjoyed my drinks and food more with live mariachi!! Next time!

We went to celebrate my daughter's 15th bday with a total of 24 of us this past Tuesday evening and we had great service, good food and enjoyed to the fullest. We avoided the busy weekend, not too many customers during the week. I called the restaurant the day before letting them know there will be 24 of us in case they needed to staff up. We had some appetizers and 4 parrilladas. I was able to bring my daughter's cake. The evening was absolutely perfect. Family and friends showed up at 7:15pm and we finally left at 10:30pm their closing time. We were so relaxed. I want to thank Coculas Restaurant, Jose Alfredo and everyone on the team for making this a great evening for familia and friends. Definitely we will be back soon.

“Good authentic Mexican cuisine.”

Good authentic Mexican cuisine. Always a pleasure coming to this location. Feels like home! We enjoy coming to this location. Their enchiladas verdes are delicious with an icy Horchata. Oh, and their asada plain tacos for kids are big and tasty. Highly recommend this location.
