“Absolutely outstanding beef soup with big chunks of beef and veggies served with rice and tortilla.”
Absolutely outstanding beef soup with big chunks of beef and veggies served with rice and tortilla. It's not about the looks of the place and that can be easily misjudged. It's all about flavors!

“Very nice supermarket.”
Very nice supermarket. Great produce and meat. The best part might be the bakery attached, with a beautiful selection of cakes, pastries, cookies, and other items at very reasonable prices.

The store has been around a long time and the store has a bit of everything including Mexican products. I stop here every now and then to pick up those Mexican products. On my last visit I got some Mexican cookies and candy. They also have fair prices for their products and offer plenty of free parking. At this time they are building something in front, a cafe but not yet open. And they have a small restaurant on the west end of the store so you can stop by and get prepared food to eat there or take out.

“Bought a torta de asada from here and my 7 year old son found glass in a bite he had taken.”
Bought a torta de asada from here and my 7 year old son found glass in a bite he had taken. . Called and management didn't even wanna speak with me. Horrible. This could have been so dangerous and they acted like it was what ever.

“I never had an issue with this place.”
I never had an issue with this place. But I can say I’m really disappointed the fact I had to waist money on something I didn’t even enjoy it. I have never had chicharron this chewy plus taste awful. I wouldn’t recommend this food place. 03/22/2023

“Carnicería Jiménez is truly a neighborhood staple on the northwest side of Chicago, and it...”
Carnicería Jiménez is truly a neighborhood staple on the northwest side of Chicago, and it represents the authentic roots of Hispanic heritage like few places still do today. Serving the community for over 50 years, this family-owned grocery store and taquería is more than just a place to shop or eat—it’s part of the fabric of the neighborhood. What really stands out is the taquería inside Carnicería Jiménez, which consistently delivers fresh, authentic Mexican food made with care and tradition. From their savory, perfectly seasoned tacos, to their crispy flautas, and their classic antojitos and mercado-style dishes, every bite reflects quality, authenticity, and pride in their craft. The flavors are bold, comforting, and unmistakably traditional—exactly what you expect from a true Mexican taquería in Chicago. Beyond the food, Carnicería Jiménez offers a warm, family-oriented atmosphere that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The customer service is friendly, respectful, and community-focused, and you can tell this business values its customers just as much as its traditions. Whether you’re shopping for fresh meats, authentic Mexican groceries, or stopping in for a quick and delicious meal, the experience is consistently excellent. If you’re searching for authentic Mexican food on the northwest side of Chicago, a trusted Hispanic grocery store, or a taquería with real flavor and history, Carnicería Jiménez is the place to go. It’s a living example of quality, tradition, and community—something that has been earned over decades of serving generations of families. Highly recommended.

“I can't complete my grocery trip without a visit to Jimenez.”
I can't complete my grocery trip without a visit to Jimenez. Great chorizo fresco. The man who prepares the recipe should kiss his hand. I also love that they carry tortillas del Popocatepetl. Saves me a trip to Pilsen. Excellent dry chiles and spices.
