“Bumped into this gem while looking for places that open early and serve good south Indian breakfast. We had karampodi dosa and mix tifin, it was just delicious and so fresh. I am surprised the quantity is so good with the price and everything tasted delicious. I would highly recommend this place. It was clean and service was quick”

“Had masala dosa and it was on point. Chai tea was also great!”

“Outstanding food and excellent tea! Such a lovely satisfying South Indian breakfast after so long! I highly recommend this place.”

“We have been here quite a few times really like there Vada & dosa is big and more than enough for 1 person comes with chutney and sambar. Also had there pani puri better than many other places”

“We were just here for the dosa. My husband was craving to have a good dosa & one of his friends (who's from India and know the authenticity of their local food) recommended him to go to Mehrab Restaurant on Devon Ave. for the authentic Dosa. The food was good 👍, the chutneys were ok, I mean, it wasn't super delicious, but not bad. The amazing thing is their staff. We were greeted by Mr. Usman & he was good at suggesting us as per our mood. He was not only very kind but he quite entertained our 3.5 years old well. He gave us the complimentary dessert name fruit custard with jelly & nuts. It was really great in taste. We usually don't have a big sweet tooth, but when I tasted that, it was really yummy 😋. The atmosphere is ok then comes the food but the staff is grate. I recommend this place especially for the staff they have. Very courteous & friendly.”

“Been in the US for two months and was desperately craving south Indian food. So when i visited Chicago i knew that i had to make the trip upto Devon to eat idli dosa. Saw Google reviews of this place and decided to have idli here. So much anticipation and excitement. But the food was a dud. The idli was so tough and rubbery. Saving grace was the palli chutney Would not visit here again. Staff were very friendly”

“Update: After ownership changed, the decor and the menu changed. Inside used to be very no frills so the new tables/curtain dividers are an upgrade. The dosa is not as thin as the previous iteration and instead more compact and thicker, also there is no more egg dosa which was my favourite and now there is omelette dosa which I don’t like nearly as much. The chutneys are a bit more consistent now, but I do miss the old style of dosa. — Previous ownership: Delicious Dosa perfection. So crisp and flavourful and generously sized. I enjoyed both the egg dosa and masala dosa. The coconut chutney was good but not standout. If you pay cash you get a slight discount which is nice.”

“Very good Idli and dosa. But there puri is very BAD. Dry and simply bland, check the picture. It came without the Saag!!! How we suppose to eat that raw puri? It happened twice with togo orders, so not ordering that item ever! Please check your orders, they sometimes forget to put chutneys, sambar, or No Saag with there undercooked saag puri. Recommended but taste and service can definitely be improved.”

“I went here this morning for halwa puri and dosa, and the experience was horrible. All they served for the halwa puri was a portion of halwa and one giant poori dripping with oil—no vegetables or chana (chickpeas), which is very disappointing and not what you expect from a proper halwa puri plate. The dosa was also a letdown—way too soft and lacked the crispiness it should have. On top of that, the person at the reception was extremely rude and unprofessional. His attitude made the whole experience even worse. Definitely not worth the money or the visit. I won’t be coming back here again.”
“One of best Indian foods I've tried in the greater Chicago area, and I've been here for five years now(esp the chicken 65 and thali). They do a have a weirder opening and closing time now but it is so worth it to beat the traffic there.”
