Beautiful welcoming Greek Restaurant. Clean, wheel chair accessible, visible from street, street parking or valet. Near train and bus station . When you walk in you’ll be greeted with a smile and make you feel at home to a Greek oasis in Chicago. Beautiful Decor and bar with people ready to give you the Greek tour on gastronomy and culture aid by good Greek music. Cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Excellence on presentation, freshness, seasoning, flavor. Excellent Chef ….Is November 2025 we visited Athens, Corfu and Crete just last April so we had high expectations when comparing of course and we were very pleased with service, food, ambiance also met Nick and Nissa managers of the place and see the high standards of service on this must visit place to seat and have a wonderful experience. Loved food, strong coffee, Baklava cheese cake (they have orange cake also besides other options)and of course proper finish of nice meal with Tsipouro or after dinner drinks from bar. Must try and perhaps be the highlight of your day. I know we are coming back when visiting Chicago again

“The food was amazing, and the portions were generous.”

The food was amazing, and the portions were generous. I had the best veggie moussaka I've ever tasted. It was creamy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! The dessert options had a nice variety, and the ice cream was light and not overly sweet. The ambiance made it feel like being transported to the Greek Islands, with a lovely atmosphere and a beautiful fountain that really added to the experience. The server was very nice, and the staff overall were just as welcoming. I can't wait to return and bring family or friends along to enjoy it too.

Great experience for authentic Greek food in Chicago. I’ve been here a couple times now, and it’s better each time (partly because I’m learning what to order). Two of us started with the saganaki and octopadi and then shared the braised lamb and gyro plate. All these were wonderful!! Nice selection of cocktails and wine. Highly recommended…enjoy!!

“First time visit.”

First time visit. Didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. They make a solid screwball espresso martini. Everyone was excited for flaming cheese. Had lamb shank in an lemon-egg sauce with potatoes and carrots. Potatoes could've been cooked a bit longer but everything was quite tasty. The sauce and the lamb were a good pairing.

First time here. Had a reservation and table was ready upon arrival. Had good appetizers to choose from. Nice presentation for the fire on the cheese (saganaki) The braised lamb leg was delicious, falling off the bone tender. I had green beans to pair with it and they were also good! Overall enjoyed everything.

I don't know if any staff from Athena in Greek town are reading this but thank you. I'm a bartender in west suburbs. My family (4 of us) came in tonight to celebrate the loss of a dear family friend. Unfortunately 1 of our party was running late. Our server I don't know his name was over the top exceptionally understanding. He was accommodating and so friendly. The drinks were amazing. The food runners and bussers were so amazing, friendly and accommodating. Once our full party was there the meal was fabulous for every dish we got. At the end our server took a picture of us on my phone to commemorate the night. I don't know who waited on us tonight but Thank You soooo much to the whole staff and valet! We had a phenomenal night. If you haven't been go check them out! EDIT: This was her favorite place in Greek town where we had been several time pre covid. First time since post. Absolutely phenomenal experience 👌🏽

Overall, Athena Greek Restaurant offers decent food, but there are a few notable issues. Food: The dishes are generally tasty and well-prepared, earning a solid 4 stars. However, some items could use a bit more seasoning to enhance their flavors. Service: The service was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and prompt, which deserves a full 5-star rating. Atmosphere: The ambiance was somewhat disappointing. It was extremely hot inside, making it uncomfortable to enjoy the meal. Additionally, there were a lot of flies around, which was quite bothersome. This aspect only merits a 3-star rating. Overall, while the food and service were commendable, the atmosphere needs significant improvement to provide a more enjoyable dining experience.

Love the ambience and service here. We sat outside on a cool night by the water fall wall. The food was delicious with perfectly paired wine. Plenty of flavor and herbs in all ghe different dishes. The hot cheese was superb. The whole group had a great time.
